Programming a replacement Remote Key Entry fob

Regarding lost items, MIL used to say "it's always in the last place you look". Makes sense, not gonna keep looking if it's there. Building off that logic, for a speedy search, maybe look in the last place first.

    Advice on Dry Rot Repair

I thought this looked terrible. Got to the end of your video and am very impressed with your result. And the repair has lasted several years now? Can't argue with results - Good job.

I think my gas range needs repaired.

No sense of fun. playing with gas can be an uplifting experience. much as playing with electricity can put a sparkle in your eye.

I think my gas range needs repaired.

Have you lifted the range top to expose the burners and plumbing to them? There are rotating covers around openings on the tubes to the gas burners that regulate the air/gas mix, any chance there is a bit of boiled zucchini over one of the openings or maybe a cleaner disturbed the location? Do...

Walmart limit one Sodastream cartridge per day

Interesting - seems there are different grades. https://www.jameso2.com/co2-purity-by-grade/ Impurities can be things like Oxygen, Carbon Monoxide, Ammonia and Benzene. Food and Beverage grade CO2 is 99.9 grade, Medical and Industrial must meet 99.5 grade. Medical CO2 can be used for inflating...

Walmart limit one Sodastream cartridge per day

Had to look - if a Sodastream container has 14.5 ounces of CO2 and costs $32 that means 20# of Sodastream CO2 costs about $700. Guess I don't feel as abused paying $70 for my 20# container. Edit: Protip. On an adventure evening involving alcohol one might be tempted to try and carbonate vodka...

Walmart limit one Sodastream cartridge per day

Dunno - CO2 is getting spendy - a 20# tank cost $74 back in December. Though that will gas up our water for the better part of a couple years.

    Question for Sourdough Bread Makers

I'd cranked out a number of loaves in short order and my starter got upset with me. Pretty much crossed it's arms and glowered up at me from it's container. Was tickled by the Carl's Starter article and the Oregon connection so sent off my SASE and a small unrequested contribution. Couple weeks...

    After I'm Gone

We all do the best we can - and maybe most of us have an exaggerated view of our own importance. The world will carry on, your partner will do what they do. Probably won't be what you think is optimum, but "when I move from here to ghost, what's gonna matter most.." (32,000 days, Emerson Hart)...

Cheapwad Finds--Opposite of Blow That Dough!

Have been very impressed with a SunJoe brand electric pressure washer over the last 3-4 years. A friend is having a birthday and we decided to spring for a new one for him - about $150 with 2 year warranty; mine was in the $80 dollar range for a refurb. Ordered the new one up and it arrived...

    About death and money

Been in touch with Neptune. Their prices are a bit tricky. We're pretty callous about corpse care after death, I'm good with a hole in the dirt and feed the planet back, but probably a container of ashes is easier for those who remain. Guess you need body pickup, permit to cremate, cremation...

    Fidelity Instead...

Back in 2023 we moved something over 2MM to Fidelity and enquired about a bonus first. Was worth $3000 in bonus, but I was unable to pick my cash account, which pays like 2.?% vs about 5% and spreads the cash among a bunch of different banks, meaning you get piddling interest amounts from...

State Income Tax: not always perfect

Heh - two cookies later kinda guy here. We have houses in Oregon and California and shifted our state of residence to California. State taxes are a bit higher, not much, but inheritance tax in Oregon kicks in at a much lower number and real hard. Is it delayed gratification feeling satisfied...

Cheapwad Finds--Opposite of Blow That Dough!

Have the same mindset. Drove a lot of used cars with many miles on them. Notice how few cars on the freeway have more than one occupant? My old worn out leather driver's side bottoms got nice as new matching seat bottoms from wrecking yard passenger sides. Worth doing if you like old BMWs that...
