tax refund taking 3 months and counting

Nah, just check the mailbox every day (which I do anyway :-)). Speaking of which, I got another letter last week telling me it's going to be another 60 days, and they still don't need anything else from me. I guess at 8% interest it's not a big deal, as long as I don't see the dreaded A word.

    Firecalc meaning

I suppose he/she could look at it as expense reduction, as long as he/she didn't also put their SS numbers in as income as well, and it would still be in the ballpark either way.

    Gone by the third generation

To be fair to the Presley clan, it seems the supposed forclosure on Graceland was a scam Good for the granddaughter for standing up to them.

According to this it's 8%: IRS Refund Interest Rates Although they don't start paying it until April 15.

tax refund taking 3 months and counting

That would require detailed calculations to be performed (i.e. work) I retired to avoid work :-)

tax refund taking 3 months and counting

I did file electronically, and setup direct deposit for the refund. My refund is high because I suck at estimating pension withholding and capital gain estimated taxes (which I'm proud of so pleas no suggestions). Also my income has changed quite a bit these last couple years due to my recent...

tax refund taking 3 months and counting

E-filed in late Feb with expected refund of 12K. Still no word from IRS other than: "your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe...". This is starting to seem excessive without any other follow up from them, or is this more common than I'd think? Actually I should...

    ACA vs Medicaid

Although a small sample size, this isn't what we experienced. My son needed a procedure on his nasal passages which were too narrow and he always had trouble breathing, especially during allergy season. Rebuilding the passages after such a procedure is done by a plastic surgeon, and insurance...

    ACA vs Medicaid

+1 for Medicaid When I filled out the ACA I entered my honest monthly income and was forced onto Medicaid, which actually turned out great. No costs, ever, for anything here in MO anyway. But, there is a clause that after you and your wife die, they can come after your estate for whatever...

    Blow that Dough 2024

Sounds like you went over the top of the BTD rollercoaster and are still on the downward spiral, thinking "what the hell did i just do!". But like a coaster you'll reach bottom and probably be glad you did it. I can't get up the nerve to go over the top in considering spending 60K on a new car...

    5 years to go..max!

401K's from the company you retire from are tappable penalty free at 55, not 59 1/2. And if you have other 401Ks out there it's possible you can transfer them to your current 401K before then.

Using a Roth for a DIY 529(ish) Plan

state tax deduction is the diff I agree with some of the others here, why pass up the state tax deduction on the principal, which you won't get on the Roth. You should at least be taking that into consideration if you haven't. Sounds like IL (like MO where I'm it) may have good options for...

Thanks Exchme for the thorough explanation. I think I'll move on as you suggest.

    Quick IORP question

I just want to verify that it's not using old or incorrect numbers in their calculations, and that the ones they are using are up do date. If not I don't want to go to the trouble of entering in my info.. I did send an email asking them about this directly, will post if I get a response.
