How do you save for your future new/used car?

Paid cash , for better or worse, for the 2 cars we have today. Lately have been logging about 15k a year, total, on both. Going to either sell one , and put the monies aside for a future purchase, or both and get newer version of what we have. My only wish is that there was a worthwhile ALL...

On The Road Again #1 - Taos, NM

You forgot to mention a 4000' climb that started close to 8000' feet. GRatz!. Northern NM is one of my favorite places in the US. Just hanging at 7-8k elevation exhausts me.

    Just Say No to Bonds?

Rich, aren't you really looking at a 72/28 equity/fixed income split to start. Aggresive maybe, but not hanging off a cliff. How far are you willing to go , before you feel you might fall off a cliff. Prunning and sweeping may keep you at that ratio, esp. if you go into this with an up market.

    Scott Burns: The Critical 50’s

When I first started at my work place, it scared me watching co-workers in their 50's age 10-20 years, their last few years of their career. It was amazing for me to...

Thinking out loud about a possible job move

Didn't get past Option 2 of your post Ceberon. Take the low commute, low stress, more time off option. The monies lost will be gianed by less medical issues due to stress and the like. Living to with the only reward is hours 8 sleep isn't worth it. Just my opinion

My phone followup with Vanguard FP

Sounds like yuou are commited to Vanguard. For the most part so am I. There is a good web site called Vanguard Diehards, http://socialize.morningstar.com/NewSocialize/Asp/AllConv.asp?forumId=F100000015 That can give you some ideas, but are mostly Index driven. Also Dan Wiener...

    Another one "gets it"

Lets see, 2 chronograph clocks on the forwad dash. 2 set up in the navigation comp. 1 in the air ground link, 1 on the First officers wrist, and a boatload in the back of the airplane if desperate. (flights have been full these days). Have HF radios also to tune in the atomic clock if needed. ;)...
