    4% SWR for how long?

Do you read or do any research yourself? It does not sound like it. Given that you have not done that, you probably are not ready to retire.

    4% SWR for how long?

Look at your budget, track your spending, you will know exactly how much "your" inflation went up. The governments numbers don't matter.

7-19 (-900) points: Holding? Selling? Buying?

I watch the market everyday. I watch it go up, I watch it go down, in the long run it always goes up. Any time you have doubts go to Yahoo finance, put in VOO or VTI bring up the graph. Put in since inception and look at the graph. There have been many, many corrections (the sky is falling)...

For the love of god, get a will!!

Really no reason not to have one. Not long ago I bought 2019 Quicken Will Maker + for about $40. Down load it and create all the documents you need to manage your estate as well as get many other legal forms you might need or use between now and when you bite the dust. I did quite a bit of...

    Kids making a big mistake

When your young is the time to make those mistakes if they turn out to be mistakes. I made plenty myself and did fine without assistance from anyone. I am curious, what makes you think they may be asking you for assistance? If they haven't mentioned that possibility I would not offend them...

Living in Tennessee? Pros and Cons?

I agree, that is a great area. I lived in Knoxville for about 3 years. Met the wife there and go back a couple of times per year for the past 35 years. Great Motorcycle roads anyplace you go in E TN. Knoxville is like any good sized city, if you go to some areas where you shouldn't it could...

Struggling to Increase the Fixed income Portion of Portfolio

After re-reading my post I can see that the statement "Replaced bond allocation with high dividend blue chips" could be misinterpreted. I should have said I sold my bonds and bought high dividend blue chips that all paid a minimum of 3%+Dividend with the proceeds of the sale.

Struggling to Increase the Fixed income Portion of Portfolio

were you confused? I'm sorry. I don't recall telling or saying anywhere that dividend stocks are bonds. Feel free to correct me but I think most investors expect lower yields from bonds when compared to stocks. Don't most investors buy bonds to even out the ups and downs of equities and...

Struggling to Increase the Fixed income Portion of Portfolio

As I said in my earlier post that was what I did 8 years ago when I first stopped trusting the bond market. I did that for about 4/5 years. A few years ago I went to an investing strategy I read or heard about from JL Collins. I have 3 years worth of cash in a mm account and about 88% of my...

    Capital One to ETrade transfer

they are not charging fees for these transactions. I don't believe they have the ability between brokerages to transfer partial shares.

Struggling to Increase the Fixed income Portion of Portfolio

I may be the lone ranger here but I believe the Fed totally screwed up the bond market with the interest manipulation in the past 10 years. I got totally out of bonds about 8 years ago. Replaced bond allocation with high dividend blue chips that all paid a minimum of 3%+. Of course running...

Now Retired: We need 3% yield on a $1.1 mil nest egg

I retired 6 years ago, for the first few years I was still picking stocks with about half my money and the other half was in VWELX. Read or saw something on line from JL Collins (you can google him) made sense, could not be easier. Spent some time investigating his philosophy and decided I...
