    Your recent repair? 2013 - 2020

Fixed the window regulator in the tailgate of my '90 Suburban snowplow rig. It had an electrical problem and the rollers in the track were wasted. Took a couple of hours and about $15 for parts and working like new again. I totally enjoy that kind of stuff.

Best places to retire for young active family?

I live in Park County, Colorado, and 2nd the recommendation for anywhere on the front range. I'm in Pine Junction which is slightly further up the hill SW of Denver and I like it remote and quiet with a great view. The Colorado trail runs through this area but there is no real town to speak of...

    Class of 2013

I turned in my notice last week. Last day will be July 2nd. Woo Hoo!

    Made the leap!

I introduced myself a while ago. Last week I turned in my notice and will retire effective July 2nd (at 52). It's kind of scary and exciting all at the same time, but I'm confident that we are in good shape. It's just so hard to walk away from a good paycheck. I appreciated everyone's advice...

32 and not knowing what to do

Oh yeah, forget all that Colorado stuff I mentioned. It's really cold and icky here. and those 300+ days of sunshine a year are highly overrated. No reason for anyone to move out here or anything . ;-)

32 and not knowing what to do

I'm originally from Rockford, IL. so I totally get what you are saying about living there. Never going to live there again. My wife and I moved to Colorado in '92 when we were in our early 30's. First near Denver, then after about 5 years, up in the mountains. We used to vacation here for a...

At what age did you become a saver

I never had any debt, but never really saved until I got married when I was 29. My wife has been a saver all her life and she showed me the light.

    It's funny joke Thursday! 2005 - 2020

The doctor walks into the exam room and tells the elderly patient he has some bad news, "I'm sorry to tell you that you have cancer and you have alzheimer's." The elderly man replies, "At least I don't have cancer."

How do you survive the last year before ER?

I'm planning to go in about 3 months. For the last year my attitude has been that I no longer care what they ask me to do. They pay me well and I'll do my best at my job, even if it's a totally BS exercise for management, but when 5:00 pm hits I quit every day. I don't stress about work...

To build or not to build...

I recently did a major rennovation and addition to make our house our dream home and i can tell you that if you can find a nice home in inventory somewhere you'll get a much better deal than building one. Existing homes are all pretty much "on sale" everywhere, but builders and contractors want...

What have you done to be frugal?

My wife and I have been very frugal since we got married 23 years ago, and she was even before that. We live a low consumption lifestyle as described in the book "The Millionaire Next Door". In some cases we take things to the extreme, like recycling (re-using) past Valentines Day and...

    Ready to make the leap!?!

That was a primary consideration of mine in possibly buying. I have two large dogs that are still pretty young and a cat and if we were to go away for months at a time, we would want to bring them along- and be able to drive to the house. The reason I've been looking at more expensive properties...

    Ready to make the leap!?!

Thanks again for the comments. I had a few reasons to consider buying something in Florida, but your comments have me reconsidering if that really makes sense. I have been on the wall about the entire second home idea, so I will most likely put that off and maybe just vacation and rent for a...
