    Poll: What generation are you?

Well, a lot of folks died between WW2, Korea, and the French IndoChina Wars I guess. Millions died from WW2 alone. Also, getting VA home loans and GI bills motivated military vets to start settling down and create families.

    Poll: What generation are you?

When did returning soldiers start making a lot of babies? 1946-1965. Hence the baby making "Boomer" years. That can't be the 1930s. People were living miserably then to make babies during the Depression years at least in America and Europe.

Is Home Ownership Essential to the American Dream?

I rented half my adult life. I wish I could have used the rent money to pay off 20 years of my current 30 year mortgage. Those apartments were crappy as hell here in the Bay Area.

What would you tell your 22 year old self?

I would tell the 22 y.o. to write down these lotto numbers and to invest in Apple stocks etc.

What would you tell your 22 year old self?

Exactly. Comicbookguy, I hope you can make it in 5 years. I'm not myself going to retire in 5 years, but 5 more years from now, I'll have my 20 years in. At that point, I'm going to do something else I'll like.

What to do when you hate your j*b - find a new one or tough it out?

I job hop and jump off the frying pan when it gets too hot knowing the next frying pan or wok is going to be sizzling sooner or later. LOL.

What to do when you hate your j*b - find a new one or tough it out?

Find another job. I've been at my current job for almost the same amount of years and I'm sick of the politics , changes, and forces I can't control at my workplace. Things may not be better on the other side of the fence , but at least I'll meet new people and hopefully after all these decades...

    3 Year Check-up

Wow. When I was 26, I was happy just to be able to pay my rent and have money for fun and clothes. Good job.

    Young guy. Where to start?

I disagree. Interest rates have no where to go but up. If you're a bond holder, you've experienced losses the past few weeks as rates have risen. I've personally gotten rid of bonds ( bond funds) in my retirement accounts, so I actually practice what I preach. To each his own. I'd rather risk...

    Young guy. Where to start?

Personally, I'd be cautious about funds with bond funds. When interest rates rise , these funds will get hammered. VWELX has bond funds.

Americans seem to be fed up with frugality

I need to cut back. Spending way too much on gas, restaurants, and daily coffee again. I did reach a milestone this past week. So, I'm proud of that. Still have 20-25 years of work to go.

Q: Worst part of your j*b?

Basic Training . Brings back a lot of memories. I spit shined mine's and I also melted my kiwi straight into my boots for that nice shine before chow time.

    This site makes me depressed...

Ha! I know how you feel. I'm just an average Joe , but I will semi-retire when I get into my mid-50s and fully retire in my 60s. I'll eat beans and rice and cut out crap I don't need to live if I have to. BTW, appreciate what you have.
