Looking forward to moving into our CCRC in June of 2024. The development is currently being built. It is already pretty much sold out. Our unit is a stand alone "cottage". The development also has duplexes and apartments. Will also have a memory care building on the campus. It's nice that...

Poll: When Did You Cut the Cord (Cable and/or Satellite)?

Never had a cord. When my son was still at home, he always complained that we didn't have cable. My response - "Let me think about this for a minute, I'm going to spend money so that you can waste time watching more television". We needed a new tv a while back and ended up buying a ROKU tv...

Exactly as you describe. The money is automatically redeposited in the bank account of record. Once you get things set up, a very simple process.

    A couple I-Bond Questions

I think at some point in time each niece and nephew will have to set up a Treasury account in their name in order for you to deliver them.

    A couple I-Bond Questions

I was trying to remember if the giftee had to have a Treasury account set up at the time of purchase. OF course, they definitely need one to receive the gift.

    A couple I-Bond Questions

I just transferred a gift bond I had purchased to my wife. I was surprised the system required me to enter her Treasury Account number. The system already knew her name and SS# from when I purchased the gift, I would have thought that would have uniquely identified her.

How to decide on a CCRC

My wife and I will be moving into a CCRC. What closed the deal for us is it is a brand-new project being built by a non-profit that has been in service to the community for 75 years. It is in a small town which has alot of to do and is on the shores of Lake Michigan. We are able to specify...

    DQOTD: T-Bills vs Cash Savings?

T-bills are actually safer than cash in the bank. If the Federal Government ever defaults on t-bills, paper money will have no value.

My son wants to me to help pay for his very expensive wedding? How much?

Tell your son to take out a loan and contact his representative in Washington. It is unfair for young married couples to be saddled with wedding cost loans. The taxpayers should be more than willing to pick up the tab.

I don't ever recall talk of banning fossil fuels with the hope that a viable alternative be discovered and developed.

    Rethinking CCRC living

We are preparing to move into a CCRC in MIchigan, I also couldn't handle the heat in the south. THere will be a significant monthly cost, but it pretty much covers most all reoccurring living expenses. A big driver with me is that I, and more importantly my wife's medical needs will be taken...
