I'm right at six months now and not going to work seems "normal". But I can't tell you when it changed. The Sunday blues Khan mentions go away. Now it's hard for me to tell you what day of the week it is. As to the date... haven't got a clue.

There's places that collect old glasses. Might check Goodwill. Maybe they have a box of them you can go through till something sort of fits. That should meet the criteria of "... us early retirement people need to save as much money as possible."

I've found that viewing my progressive age is better in five-year clumps. I was "about 50" for five years, then "about 55" for another five. This worked pretty good and avoid a lot of math required to be more precise. Now, I've turned 58 in October and I'm feeling that "about 60" will be...

I tend to agree with Martha that there's no hard rule on this.... except that I tend to see the Fed as utterly hopeless. I worked in a Fed position for four years in the mid-80's and that's where I developed my 4-year solution to the problems I found there. 1st year: Eyes wide open...

I did a lot as a boy and young adult. Haven't been in decades though. Coming east from Arizona, I guess I never got used to all the land being private. I love to eat it though, when anyone feels like feeding me. :)
