Poll: When Did You/Are You Planning to Start Soc Sec?

Definitely age 70. The 8% return is too much for me to give up, and my mother's family lives a long time. Dad's side, not so much, but they were all smokers.

    Lump Sum Vs. Monthly Pension

I would definitely see if any medical benefits are tied to your pension before making the decision.

Should I go to college or try FI/RE?

My Dad never went to college. He was a welder and saved his money, bought rental properties, and then got a great job in Alaska. He was able to retire at age 50 but waited until he was 55. He never brought stress home with him, unlike most of us that work white collar jobs. The issue with...

Made it 5 months without getting Covid-19

I know several people who have gotten it and survived. I live in a 55+ community and they are not taking it very seriously IMHO. I keep staying home and trying to move 6 feet away when people are talking with me. Until someone they know gets it and either gets very sick or dies, a lot of...

I keep a little in gold. Always have. But its not a huge part of my portfolio. I figure I can always melt it down someday and turn it into a bunch of earings.

How do you feel now? (4 Months later)

I didn't sell, but I've been Dollar Cost Averaging a lump sum since last year. I've increased my monthly contributions from the cash account to speed up the process. So far, so good.

It looks like dementia can be reversed!

Yes, I got another cholesterol check and it had gone down (with medication). So with my doctors approval I went off the meds for six weeks, but it went back up to 263, so I'm back on meds now. My cholesterol has always been high, but with COVID-19 wrecking havoc on my exercise plan, it's above...
