    Turo - Car rental

We have not used Turo, but our daughter and her fiance have used it many times on trips they have taken without any problems. I'm pretty sure my H would not try Turo.

    Road Trips 2024

H and I are heading out in just over 3 weeks for our winter ski road trip. We will visit Bryce Canyon and then Arches for the first part of our trip. Then it's on to Colorado where we will ski Winter Park, Copper Mountain, Breckinridge, Beaver Creek and Steamboat. We are also planning a visit...

Passport renewal times have gotten much better

Our daughter needed to renew her passport for a Mexico trip in March. She was worried it was going to take a long time so she had it expedited. She said it only took 10 days.

This weather is awful - 2022 to ?

Today in coastal San Diego the high will be 66 degrees with "May Gray" in full force. It doesn't bother me in the least as I know summer will eventually be here.

    Home swap for traveling?

Can I just have someone come to cat sit at my house not cat sit at someone else's place? We wouldn't want to be responsible for pets while we are on a road trip skiing. Maybe this wouldn't work for us.

What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

We finished The Diplomat last night and enjoyed it. Glad there is a season 2 since it ended on a cliffhanger. We really liked the Night Agent on Nexflix too.

Wine - Discussion, Travel & More

We love wine in our house and H and I have visited many wine regions here in California. Paso Robles is our favorite go to area for the past few years. On a good day it is a 5 hour drive from San Diego, but having to go through LA makes the trip much longer especially coming back after the...

    Mobile Passport Control

H travels to Europe on business every few months and mobile passport is always faster for his return than any of the other lines.

    Home swap for traveling?

H and I are going to look into to using TrustedHousesitters for our big winter ski road trip next year. We are normally away 16-18 days and have 2 cats. We have someone come in once a day while we are gone to give them attention, change water and scoop the box. Automatic feeders are set up...

We are heading out on another ski trip to Mammoth on April 2nd with D1, her fiance and their husky dog. With more than 600 inches of snow and more snow coming next week we want to keep our ski season going as long as possible! D2 can't join us on this trip because of work so we will make...

    Road Trips 2023

We just returned from a 4,200 mile ski/road trip from San Diego to Revelstoke, BC, Banff where we skied Sunshine and Lake Louise then onto Big Sky in Montana and our last ski place was Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We had very cold weather in Canada and a lot of snow at many of the resorts, but had...

Buy air tickets for late August in Italy now?

You definitely pay a premium for the non stop flights plus going during the summer is normally more expensive. We haven't traveled to Europe in the summer since we had kids in school.

I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

I tested positive for Covid a week ago and I'm still testing positive today. I felt like I had a bad head cold with a headache and some nausea the first day. After the first day I had a runny nose and headache for a couple of days and have felt fine since then. I had the original Omicron last...
