    2024 Travel Plans

Just got back from a week in Ireland with my two adult sons. Did a drive through the southern part, stopping in Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Kilkenny and back to Dublin. Had a great time seeing the sights and doing a few tours, but was no match for the younger crowd in the pubs. Had all four seasons...

    Getting around Dublin?

Been there several times and headed back in March. We mostly walked to sites but caught a cab when folks got tired. Rates are reasonable and cabbies are very friendly. I don't think they allow Uber in Ireland, if I remember correctly. Forgot to add--no safety concerns at any time.

How Do You Get Live TV?

Hung an antenna in the garage attic. Gets all the locals when we want news, traffic or weather. Mostly stream programming.

What did you do today? - 2023/2024 version

Spent the last few days replacing a speedometer cable in a British mini. One of the posters on the technical forum said that it might be easier if you pull the engine when replacing the cable. Now that I'm finally done, I don't think the poster was too far off. I do love tinkering with it, though.

    Is the app down?

Not a fan without the app. Might be too labor intensive for me. We'll see...

    RSV vaccine side effects?

My doctor didn't say why he gave a No, but I trust his judgement. I'm in my early 60s, so that might be why. DW didn't ask her doctor before she got jabbed. She's a few years older than me.

    RSV vaccine side effects?

DW got a sore arm and flu symptoms. I asked my doctor if I should get it and he said no. He doesn't recommend.

    Appointment with Mohs Surgeon

Had this done on my back a few years ago. Not terribly painful. Drove to and from with no issues. It did take awhile to complete the procedure, since they cut and check before stitching you up.

    Consideration for taking SS early

Our situation may be different than most as DW is older than me and was a stay at home mother for most of our marriage. She doesn't have enough credits to qualify for SS on her own work record. All the calculators I've run for our situation say I should claim at 62 so she can also claim using my...

I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

I got COVID about 2 weeks ago for the first time. Spread like wildfire through the family after a teen brought it home from school. Despite best efforts, everyone got it --grandparents, parents, kids, including one less than a year old. Everyone recovered quickly with mild head cold symptoms.

    Non working spouse Medicare

My experience was as that my non-working wife had to sign up for Medicare on time. She is older than me. I am still under our previous insurance and it is now her secondary insurance. Kind of stinks because Medicare costs more than our previous insurance for her.

What did you do today? - 2021 version

Picked up dropped peaches and apples to keep the bees and hornets at bay. Downside of having lots of fruit trees. On the up side, played all day with my one year old GS who is quarantined with us and his mom while we wait to get our firefighter/medic son tested for COVID-19.

I'm Not That FB Friendly, Really ...

I've found that lots of former acquaintances, like high school classmates, just want to read what's on your page and you don't hear from them again after friending them. I guess they want to reassure themselves that they are doing ok relative to others.

    Your recent repair? - 2021 to ?

Bought a used boat. Come to find the trailer wiring was all messed up. Not sure what it is about trailers, but the wiring always seems messed up. I think I've probably troubleshot and fixed a dozen of them over the years. Fairy simple if you know what it should look like. Got it all set on this...
