Bingo. Especially with a maternity rider! I think it's going to be a common thing that all of us face. I'm working on mine right now... and it isn't pretty either!

Hi guys, I responded on my site to many of the questions here and elsewhere (no link since it is frowned upon). For example how much we made off the condo ($110,000), how much we usually saved (50%-75% of our combined income), why I don't disclose our net worth (my blog is NOT anonymous to...

Hi guys, I'd love to answer your questions... and I will when I get more time this weekend. Busy with Halloween festivities;D jblack did hit it right on the head - it's ok to leave the corporate world and still do meaningful work in the 29 steps article... which was what lead to the interview...

Well, I didn't really have to show up to defend myself, since I've been a reader here for over 5 years. As a matter of fact, this is one of my favorite places to hang out! In the post where I left my job, I even linked to here as one of my favorite places to learn from the best. Anyways, I've...

    No Fee Roth IRA recommendations

I started my bro-in-law and sis-in-law at Scottrade with $200 each. They only had to pay $7 to buy an ETF fund. Once they have enough, I'll move them to Vanguard.

    My First Day

Congrats to you to Cuppa Joe! No, I still don't believe it... but I will tell you that I didn't have the Sunday evening blues. That was a great feeling!

    My First Day

Ok, so maybe not residing on the couch, but in front of the computer:) At least while the kids are at preschool or napping... otherwise it's coloring, crafts and riding trikes!

    My First Day

What a great feeling! Thursday was my last day at work. Today is my first day that I would have been at work... but I'm not! Now I actually have time to post on the forums instead of just reading them:)

$7,500 First Time Home Buyers Credit - Free Money?

I'm all for 0% loans if you have the diligence to put the money in an interest bearing account and not spend it on silly stuff. Although we don't qualify, I would take it. The nice part is that if you have to move and sell your house at a loss or with cap. gains that don't cover the loan...

Taxes on retirement accounts have gotten too complicated

We're planning on using this, but moving all deductible money back to a 401k first. That way we won't have any taxes due in the first year. Then (after my job ends), we'll roll the 401k back to an IRA and move a little bit each year to a Roth, controlling the tax bill each year. I'm surprised...

Poll: how has your net worth changed since market highs?

Our portfolio is down -6.7% since Halloween. Doesn't include anything beyond our retirement portfolio. I don't track the house and assets as closely.

    Confessions of a true CHEAPSKATE

I refuse to pay extra for sour cream for my burritos at one of my favorite restaurants. They charge 30 cents for it!

    Checking in again.

We're coming along great since we started our plan 5 years ago. We have 9 to go and we're in pretty good shape. We've tweaked it a little over time, but we're still on track.

    Checking in again.

Hi Gumby, That's precisely why I had to change it. My original userid had my real name.... now that I have a lot of information about our financials on the internet, I wanted to use my pen name that I write with. Hope that's ok!!
