    Help....renting a parent's house

You may also want to check the effect of California Prop. 19. This is a recent change to Prop. 13 and has ramifications for CA property taxes. One of which applies to children inheriting property from their parents.

    Recommendations for Lodging in Amsterdam

We loved Banks Mansion. Room rate includes a nice cooked breakfast, lobby snacks and open bar. Rooms a bit on the small side but great location and relaxed ambiance were very good.

    VRBO - No reviews

I think NYC bookings must be 30 days to be legal, so personally I would avoid this one if it’s just for the weekend.

Would you contribute to your kid's 401K ?

Our kids are 22 and 24 and we give them each $5500 to fund a Roth IRA each year. They are both responsible, employed and funding their own 401K's. They have their own paychecks, budgets, etc so I feel that the Roth is outside of that, mentally, allowing them to be responsible for their own...

    29 y/o planning to retire at 38

Regarding 529 accounts, if the student gets a scholarship and does not end up needing the funds, you can withdraw the amount of the scholarship money. You have to pay income taxes on the gain, but do NOT have to pay the 10% penalty.

28 interested in retiring on a sailboat..where do I start?

I opened Roths for my kids at Schwab. Their minimum (if they even have one) is very low. One of the Roths was opened with $125, which was 2 days of babysitting earnings.

24 years old going on 25 with no kids, and I want to retire by 45.

You loaned your friend $11,000? Four months worth of your salary? I'm sorry, but you do not have that kind of money to lend. You live at home to save money, are going to school, taking out student loans, etc... And, the debt he owes you is growing continually?? Please, look out for yourself...
