    class c RV

    My wife and I are currently traveling in a self converted camper van (we've been out and about since November) . We have an extended length Ford Transit (22' long, but the living area is only about 13' long). We have 3 border collies. It works for us, but we basically have to live our lives...

    Japan advice for April trip

    Google maps work very well for the trains and subways. Read about the subway / train cards before you go. Most places only take cash (or train cards). Learn some of the etiquette (like move to the side of a sidewalk if you need to stop and check your phone, don't eat /drink while walking)...

    Poll: Do You Remove Shoes Entering Your House?

    I'm in Canada, and I've never seen anyone wear outdoor shoes inside. Always socks, slippers, or very rarely indoor sneakers. In Canada, with many months of snow each year, we mostly wear some sort of boot, and I can't imagine someone wearing their dirty wet boots inside the house.

    Frugal and retired - anyone alse?

    I agree with you on this. When I first started coming here (in 2010), there were many more discussions on low spending and saving. I haven't seen a post about dryer sheets in a long while. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, probably just the ebbs and flows of an online forum - or it might be a...

    Any furnace concerns in extreme cold?

    I suggest keeping an eye on the flue exhaust in certain circumstances... High efficiency furnaces sometimes vent out the side wall (not up through the roof), and exhaust moisture can condense and freeze below the outlet, creating a sort of reverse icicle (or stalagmite). If it gets too big, it...

    Dash Camera

    Generally, yes. But you can also connect it to a tapped fuse, and then hide the wires.

    First cruise question

    We've cruised 3 times, and each time had a balcony, and it was one of our favourite parts of the cruise ship and well worth the upgrade (although, I don't think it was double the cost for us). Are either of you introverted? The balcony gives you a nice place to sit and enjoy the view, without...

    Grass cuttings on the Garage Floor - Buy a small shed for the mower?

    We have a detached 2 car garage and it gets pretty messy. We park both vehicles in the garage year-round, and it holds the lawn equipment, camping gear, and other junk. There is no easy way to keep it really clean, so I don't bother. I just use the compressor to blow it out in the spring &...

    Any Microsoft Word (2010) experts here?

    Are the documents older, and being saved with a newer version of word? It might be adding in some new compatibility features which could affect file size.
