No selling. Buy and hold.

So if you just retired this year, and Firecalc said you were OK, and the market has just dropped 5%, can you sell stock as part of your withdrawals and still be OK, or do you have to wait for the market to go back up?

I have bought two car batteries from Batteries Plus, and they are at about 5 years and still going well.

Thanks, Bssterl. The other problem has been that the "verify account" via text or phone that Personal Capital has also hasn't worked. I just got an email message from them that they want the last four numbers of several account numbers, so hopefully I'm getting closer to being unlocked.

The "what are you going to do" question is one I'm starting to wrestle with right now. I've got to figure that out b/c I know I'll make myself and my family crazy if I'm not doing something. Of course, I'd like to get fulfillment from it.

Told you my math skills were bad. I just re-ran this in SSA calculator and retiring now would lower my SS at 70 by about $500 per month. I think, though, I could live with that by enjoying life more.
