    More SS undermining

The 4 folks that I am talking about are all in their 80s and none of them have a snowballs chance of finding a job. In good times or in bad. I have no problem with them gradually raising the retirement age. It would give incentive to younger folks to save for old age. They would not do it...

    More SS undermining

I'm interested in opinions on what the government might do with benefits already being received by SS recipients. Do you think the folks already receiving checks are going to see their paychecks cut or their COLA cut out or reduced. Both my parents and the wife's parents rely heavily on SS...

    SS Calc/Est., In today's $$?

Hey thanks very much, that makes sense but it's been about 3 years of those mailed estimate forms and the number has not changed. Must be because there was no NWI increases. Appreciate the help.

    SS Calc/Est., In today's $$?

OK, just to be sure I undertand this. If my current estimate sent to me in the mail says that I will get $2000 at 66 years of age. In 2010, at 66 yo, do I get $2,000 checks or do I get the equivalent of $2,000 + 10 years of CPI increases?

help reading person's actions vs words

Also, look in the dictionary under "batter-up", that picture is you. She is the classic, to the letter, deceitful female.

how hard to get fraudulent CC charge removed?

My experience with calling in to report fraud had been fairly successful to get the money refunded. But I pretty much knew who stole the details of my card because I had only used it online at a couple of very reputable sites, Amazon, NewEgg, etc. BUT, I used it in an emergency at a motel and...

just became a debit card fraud victim

Almost exactly the same situation happened to me. And yes, used at Walmart for about $5,000. It was taken off my account but the VISA folks said they would not likely even pursue the crook, too costly. Something must be possible to prevent this crap. Good luck with your situation.

Points of View On Violence in the NFL

Not sure if it was because of the recent attention but in the games I watched this weekend there seemed to be less spearing. The Vikings-Packers game was a good show.

Yeah, but the downside is sitting for 10 minutes while they haul the body off the field. Too many commercials.

Points of View On Violence in the NFL

I don't think fines are the answer, it has to be suspensions. I'd be happy with a fine of $50k first offense, then 1 game for repeats. If the player is injured by spearing, the spearee should sit the same number of games as the injured player. Spearing would cease pronto. Does the...

USA's Future - UK budget cuts of £81bn announced

I really wonder what it would take here in the US to cause people to take to the streets. Well, to try to impose the will of the people on the government, because it doesn't seem to take much to get a good liquor store looting going.

USA's Future - UK budget cuts of £81bn announced

Just wondering if you have been back to Bradford lately? And if you have, what you saw differently from the 70s? I was back there for a funeral in 2008. I was kinda surprised. So yeah, 10-15 years changes lots of things. And even Rippendon looked great in 2008 when I visited. Same pub...

USA's Future - UK budget cuts of £81bn announced

Alan, again, not meaning to offend and if look back my posts have been mostly about US SS and only when prodded did I mention England issues. If you are familiar with Rippendon, you'll know that many of the houses are either on the High St, whatever it was called then, I think Oldham Rd. or the...
