    awash in space aliens

That seems extraordinarily glib. And we know, this, how? How do we know that traversing these dimensions will get us to our destination "faster"? For that matter how do we know it will get us to our destination in the time reference we want? People have a tendency to project fantastic...

Another day, another notice of data breach

I'm with you--I get a little pissed off when I hear about these data breaches but I'm so inured to it I don't really care anymore. So Dell has let the world know your name and address and that you own a Dell computer. Name and address can be found in 2 seconds using Google (as well as your...

    The Day Has Finally Come.....

Congratulations on taking the big step! I'm sure the feelings of melancholy will diminish as you transition into your new life.

Why are older Americans drinking so much

Sure, that makes sense, on the surface. But it hasn't been established as a fact. I might as well say that younger ostriches are more prone to sticking their heads in the ground when they are scared than older, more experienced ostriches. But the fact is that ostriches DON'T stick their heads...

Why are older Americans drinking so much

I will once again state that I don't think this has ever been established. Not by the original article in the original post, nor by anecdotal evidence within this thread. Where is the proof that people drink more in retirement?

What OLD series/movies are you watching? *Spoilers welcome!*

I watched the original "3:10 to Yuma" last night. It was much better than I expected it would be. I watched the remake a couple of years ago and that one was really good too. John Ford and Van Heflin starred. Van Heflin's character is a cattle rancher short on cash who gets hired as a mercenary...

"Vertigo" Directed by Alfred Hitchcock (also comment on other Hitchcock movies)

Oh, yeah, I watched Dial M for Murder about a year ago. That has held up very well over the years. Definitely has the suspense and his usual great camera work. It was Hitchcock's 3D movie and the print is in pretty good shape. (You don't have to watch it in 3D.)

    awash in space aliens

This is a good point. But you too, are starting from a position of question begging. You are not asking, "Is there intelligent life in the universe?" You are already assuming there is, and asking, "Is the other intelligent life in the universe like we are?" You--and most everybody...

    my toxic inheritance

Thanks for the post clarifying some issues. I'm a business owner that is in the process of selling my business I started over 35 years ago. I've run across some of these shareholder/stock ownership issues in the past year and a half. I've gone in a different direction than you--I've been buying...

    my toxic inheritance

Are you absolutely sure that you can dispose of the stock by selling to an outsider, another shareholder, or back to the corporation? By this I mean have you checked the corporate by-laws? I'm not understanding this part. Could you elaborate on this statement? What’s the problem? Well, I’m the...

    awash in space aliens

I've never run across people that are evangelists for the idea of space aliens either. I suspect these people are agnostics or even atheists yearning to believe in a higher power, but they won't say that it's God. Safer to profess faith in a nameless alien entity. Most people I run into have...

    Rezum Treatment.

I'm sorry to hear the Rezum didn't work out for you. Hopefully, TURP will be the ticket for you. This is making me reconsider the Rezum procedure.

"Vertigo" Directed by Alfred Hitchcock (also comment on other Hitchcock movies)

I knew there are several remakes. Even though you've seen this remake I'd suggest you watch the original Hitchcock version although now that you know the plot twists it won't have the same impact. Still, I'm sure there would be things in the Hitchcock original that you would appreciate. I doubt...
