Walmart limit one Sodastream cartridge per day

Go in, buy one, leave. Wait 5 minutes, go in, get one, go to a different register, buy it, leave. This is not hard, folks. It's what we did a few years ago when .22 caliber ammo was on allocation. Although one time, a busybody clerk recognized us and said "You can't do that." So we went...

    About death and money

In our case, it took several phone calls and finally a personal visit to the hospital to hound the doctor.

    Literally: Life After Fire

    1) The problem is that they keep writing more books. Although I still have War and Peace and a couple of Dostoevsky books as my emergency supply. 2) Not cats, but movies and TV series. Again, the problem is that I keep finding out movies and series that I never heard of but are recommended.

    About death and money

I found out that our local hospital doesn't even have a morgue. When somebody dies, they have an arrangement with the funeral home nearby. They come over and pick up the deceased. When the family decides on which funeral home to use, that one contacts the first one and comes pick up the body...

    About death and money

Be careful with prepaid plans. If you move before you die, it may be very difficult to get the money moved with you, especially if it has been decades since you paid. Guess how I know.

How often do strangers ask you for money?

There was a bit of advice I heard somewhere years ago. Maybe on youtube. "Sorry, I can't help you." It's worked every time for me. They just shrug and walk away.

    FIREcalc updated 4-3-2024

These two comments: "I tested it out and for us it was a tiny bit better ending balance." "It's better for me, too... a lot better! I'm getting a substantially larger SWR when I ask it to show me the highest spending level that was 100% historically...

    FIREcalc updated 4-3-2024

You realize that Firecalc is just looking at history, right? It's not a prediction of what will happen in the future.

Best Options for Paying for a Vacation Home

I think it's probably like a timeshare, in that after a while you will get sick and tired of going to the same place year after year. Save the money and headache and rent a place.

RobinHood IRA 3% Match - comments?

Ditto. I recently did the same with Tradestation & Tastytrade. Have to keep for a year, then I'll transfer back to Etrade.

RobinHood IRA 3% Match - comments?

Yeah, not a great deal on the contribution matching. But is a good deal on the 3% bonus for IRA transfer of a sizable IRA. You only have to keep Gold for 1 year. ($50)

    Using Capitol Losses

This calls for some heavy spreadsheet work to figure out the best solution. Offhand that idea of that SGOV trick sounds like it might work. FLRN probably would work the same. Look at the 1 yr chart, it is a monthly sawtooth.

    Risk-based retirement income guardrails

Yeah....no. 1) So here's a problem with G-K. Okay. 2) And here's a fix to solve that problem. Okay 3) That solution requires our specialized software that we will gladly sell to you for a fee. Yeah, no thanks.

Need to limit my account viewing.

I agree with this. I suspect that the behavioral finance folks (Thaler, etc. ) research suffered from selection bias. By the time someone is in the FI and RE group they have learned to sit tight and not over-trade and not panic. Many brokers show you the total balances of all accounts and the...

Need to limit my account viewing.

I need new glasses. I read that as "Maybe make a new baby." Of course, that is always a good idea.
