Born in Salem Massachusetts, I grew up in California, Croatia, Massachusetts, France, and Rhode Island. Have lived (more than a total of six months & sometimes for years) in Serbia, Saudi Arabia, Hawaii, Algeria, Seychelles, Panama, Bosnia, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium, Bolivia, Colombia, Haiti, Afghanistan, Djibouti, Germany, France, and doubtless some places I am forgetting. Almost three decades federal service as a political officer in the State Department, I got out when Mr. Trump came in! A proud patriotic American pretty taken aback by what's happening in America today.
Studied history as an undergraduate, then got hired by the Federal Government so never got my PhD. Later, at the National War College, studied national security strategy. Have served in nice places like Switzerland and the Seychelles, not-so-nice-places like Haiti, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Djibouti. My hobbies are alpine skiing, biking, hiking, running, reading, exploring, and thinking. I have two dogs and three children.
