Fed Tax Filing/pay now July 15th - Offical?

I haven't seen anywhere if this delay in the filing date also allows a delay to 15 Jul to make an IRA/T-IRA contribution for 2019. That might be handy for some folks.

How is this NOT a US Stock bubble??

I can't check the correlation between US and foreign equities right now, but IIRC, they are more highly correlated in recent decades than in the past. I'm not surprised that intl CAPE10 is lower than the US CAPE10. This could be the market's way of reflecting perceived relative risk. Also...

How is this NOT a US Stock bubble??

I'm no expert, but I don't break out foreign equities. If my US equities are at high valuation, I pare back all my equities, including my non-US holdings. My reasoning (and I'll admit I didn't put a lot of study into this). 1) The idea of applying a CAPE-like assessment to each foreign market...

How is this NOT a US Stock bubble??

Yes, just doing normal rebalancing does a lot to reduce the overall impact of bubbles/bubble pops. You're selling shares as they appreciate, buying more as they get cheaper. I wouldn't feel comfortable with an "all in/all out" approach to stock allocation. But just varying my stock...

How is this NOT a US Stock bubble??

"We're in a bubble." We're not in a bubble" "Bubble" implies a binary situation that probably isn't very useful, especially without the benefit of hindsight. But, present equity valuations are generally predictive of future equity returns--in a weak way. "Bridge out"is fairly black and...

How to Stick This to the Garage Floor?

+1 on Tapcons. Also, don't use the ones with a Phillips head, use the hex head versions instead. They are much easier to drive and remove.

How is this NOT a US Stock bubble??

Dividends are a factor for me, too. But an investor needs to be realistic--when stock prices do eventually get back to historically "normal" levels, the haircut is going to wipe out a decade (or more) of the dividends we've received.

How is this NOT a US Stock bubble??

It can be like this for a lot longer than a few years. I don't think it makes sense to be all in or all out of stocks based on CAPE. What I do is vary my stock allocation within a window based on CAPE. CAPE/PE10 is a crummy, imprecise (timing and trigger points) tool for market timing, but...

How is this NOT a US Stock bubble??

I agree it probably is a bubble. The PE10 is 31.98 right now, the historical average is 16.7 (PE 10 chart). It could pop today, or it could go on for years. One factor likely encouraging the increase in stock rices is the lack of other attractive investment alternatives. When bond rates are...

    Ascending Aortic dissection

It sounds like she was quite fortunate to have discovered this before finding out the hard way. Best wishes to her and the family for a good outcome. Maybe we should all volunteer for various medical experiments to see what they find?!

Suggestions for how to hang this decor item

If the thing is hung from wires, there's a good chance it will swing and bang enough to cause a lot of marring, and where it contacts the wall and there will be rust. A couple of discrete screws and some small plastic washers or bumpers on the back will keep it steady and reduce marring/rust...

Suggestions for how to hang this decor item

What is under the stucco (wood framing? concrete blocks?). It really only weighs 4 lbs? What would you think about drilling some holes into the back side of the steel tubing? That way you could use two anchors into the wall (concrete anchors or wood screws, depending on what is back there)...

A tool for maintaining your SWR?

I understand the question and I agree that such a tool could probably be devised. It would be a >very< complex beast if it were to cover all the bases (e.g. college funding/427 and FAFSA planning, legacy planning, long-term care financing, etc) as well as all the various flavors of withdrawal...

What is your pet peeve of the day?

Yep, their proprietary filters are very overpriced. When we bought our GE fridge it came with a blockoff adapter so the ice maker and water dispenser would work without a filter in place. I have a very nice inline filter before the fridge, it has a high capacity and is a lot cheaper than the...
