    "Affordability" and a new car

Just spent whatever, but I had to have the perception that the car provided good value. I just can't completely say f... it I'll spend whatever I want. So I got a small PHEV Kia Niro that has suited me very well for the past 4 years. BTW my DW is driving a '99 GS430 and we're starting to think...

    Heat Pumps-Need some splaining

A year later... OP here. We've decided to go with a dual fuel (or as one company who gave us a quote put it, duel fuel) system. It is going to be installed next week. We ended up going with a medium efficiency variable speed unit from Lennox. The contractor that we're using is the local HVAC...

The first million takes the longest to achieve

It's about 60:30:10, plus one rental property. DW also inherited a little bit a couple of years ago. Withdrawal strategy is DW that went back to work when I retired, so no withdrawal yet. We lived overseas for the 5 years before my retirement, and so when I retired and we moved back to the US...

The first million takes the longest to achieve

Late in the game the compounding is what leads to additional millions. Initially it is the saving rate that matters more. And that's why the first million is the hardest. Every year the portfolio grows by the compounding factor plus the savings factor. When the portfolio is small, so is the...

Do You Have a Mini PC? Looking for Feedback...

Do You Have a Mini PC? Looking for Feedback...

I've used a Beelink mini-PC with a J4125 processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD as my daily driver for the past 3-1/2 years. I used the brackets that came with it to attach it to the back of one of the monitors to get it out of the way, and it works great. I selected a low wattage processor to reduce...

    Top Three Rules

Don't talk about your salary with anyone. One of you will end up at least a little jealous. If something goes poorly, first think about what you could have done to make it turn out better before pointing the blame finger. Treat everyone you meet with equal, high respect (even online).
