Wow - complete disregard for decedent

Well, the first step has happened. Probate Court agreed that there are no other valid wills and named me as the Executor. Now on to the gathering of information regarding assets. Hopefully they have not been misappropriated.

    Cayman Islands update

There may be other causes, but some folks who were on our trip and had just been to the same resort 2 years ago said the difference was night and day. Therefore I'm guessing that the heat last summer plus the big storm they had in February are the two primary causes.

Considering a retirement move out of town/state

When we retired, we lived in coastal So CA and never thought we would leave. But the area changed, we changed, and we moved to the Desert while keeping our beach condo as a rental. Thought the Desert would be our forever home. Transition was relatively easy and we were able to continue to see...

    Greece trip

One thought - May will still be chilly on the islands. If you care about beaches, September will be much better. September is still pleasant enough for hiking and other activities, and the beaches are wonderful then.

    Cayman Islands update

For anyone planning a SCUBA trip or even a snorkeling trip to Cayman, do yourself a favor and wait a few years. DH and I are there now and we have been shocked at how little life we’ve seen on the reefs, or even in the deep blue off the walls. Our divemasters tell us that it’s a combination of...

    Croatia advice?

Do you think Krka is worth a day trip when we will have just visited Plitvice? I’m not sure it is from what I’ve read. Some people say it is but I’m not really hearing why. It seems that Plitvice offers everything Krka offers and more?

Wow - complete disregard for decedent

I don’t think any reputable attorney would write a new will, and thus far, it has not been documented that one exists. I doubt that it does, and even if it does, I doubt a probate judge will look kindly on a recently updated will that an Alzheimer’s patient living in Memory Care signed.

Wow - complete disregard for decedent

Not sure what you think was wrong with the way the original wills were set up. The original will was drafted by a very reputable attorney, specified the decedent’s wishes clearly, and was notarized and witnessed by independent parties. If the couple had envisioned this problem, they would have...

Wow - complete disregard for decedent

I’m sorry you went through that. I agree 100%. Even if I get no financial benefit, I would like for BIL’s wishes to be carried out to the extent possible.

    Croatia advice?

Update - I posted similar questions on some travel forums and based on learnings from that, we have decided that after Plitvice Lakes, we will drive through Zadar and see the Old Town and hear the sea organ, but then continue on to Sibenik. Most of the wineries in this part of Croatia aren’t too...
