    Electric Vehicles - Models Discussion

Took delivery of a Model S last week. It doesn't get any Federal or state rebates. So far it's an amazing car. The autopilot system works well, and if I had daily commute in bad traffic I'd pay the $99/month. Still might use it on long trips but the cars "free" lane control autopilot is good...

what office software product do you use?

After years of office I migrated to apple numbers and pages. I keep important files in the cloud and I really like I can access them instantly with my phone, tablet or computer and any changes on any device is always good for all.

    Buying a New Car

I waited "years" to buy the Tesla Model S for them to make a significant new body shape. Since I finally gave up and just bought one, I've guaranteed they will do it soon...

How much do you spend per month on fitness?

    Let's see - Planet Fitness - $10/month + $39 annual membership = $159. Then minus the $150 credit I get from my medical plan... So I spend $9/year!

    Electric Vehicles - Models Discussion

Scheduled a test drive of a Tesla Model S - best "dealer" experience ever. The scheduling was online - and while openings were as early as in a couple of hours (!), I went two days later. Online registration was easy, but included uploading a drivers license picture. When I got to the Tesla...

    Safe Driving Class

I was "forced" to take a class at work when I was traveling a lot for them. I was surprised it was useful - one of the better learnings was something like 80% of accidents are from backing out of a parking space - no injuries here, but car damages. First choice is to find a pull through spot...

Total Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024

We flew near the New York/Vermont border to see the eclipse at 7500'. While we were in the line of totality, we were high enough that while it was dark at our location, we were surrounded by a 360 degree sunset - like the kind you see with a lot of color just when the sun goes below the horizon...

    What We're Making

Thanks! Mounted with thin rods from Lowe's, soldered "picture hanger" rings in the frame, and rail rod holders from amazon. What's nice is no wires show and you can just lift the glass panels out to clean them or the window.

    What We're Making

Bathroom window stained glass We remodeled our master bath and didn't want to go back to curtains. The room is in the corner, so there are windows on two walls. We installed shutters from shutters.com and resurrected an old hobby to make 4 stained glass panels. The room is much brighter (in the...

    Rocky Mountaineer train trip

We went just before Covid, so maybe not recent enough for you. Vancouver to Banff - gold service with overnight stays in motels. It was WONDERFUL. At least for the gold level, you sit in the upper deck with wrap around glass windows - since the rail is usually in valley's, you get amazing views...

Is there any reason for a FIRE person to keep years of tax records?

I keep everything as PDF's but I do have 10 paper file folders labeled 0 to 9. This year I shredded what was in number 4 (2014 records) and am starting to put in my 2024 tax info (property tax, 1099's etc). So I have hardcopies back 9 years and electronic - well for a long time.
