How Do You Get Live TV?

I use an antenna, with a DVR and that covers most of my viewing. 37 channels for free in the St. Louis market, which is fine. There is still so much to watch from that one avenue that I really wouldn't need streaming, but I stream with a Roku anyway, which is free. By the way, I have over 600...

    Architectural taste

I really don't like the look of these at all. Garage doors should be minimized, not highlighted. Not much imagination on the part of the architect, if there was one.

Advice for your 21 yo self?

I was told in the early 90's to max out my 401K and Traditional IRA every year. I wish I would've done that! I could've retired before 55 years old, which is when I first "retired"! I've retired several more times since then.

Spendthrift Heirs - What To Do?

I'd agree with that, but how about putting it all in an S&P 500 fund, and let them have 1/2 of the appreciation each year? You could have it administrated by a Trust of some sort whose trustee was a trusted friend. You'd need to give them a cut of some kind of course.

Whole house generator and propane supply

I have definitely considered running my old cars on propane. What's the projected cost of that setup???

Pulling the hose around for gas

What you need is a normal car from the 1960's whose filler was in the middle of the rear bumper. That's where it's supposed to be in my opinion!

I Wish ... Was Never Invented

I'd like to permanently get rid of my cell phone. I don't need that leash on my body full time, or anywhere close.

Why Would Someone Need Cable TV Service?

I use a $40 over-the-air DVR to record TV shows ahead of time, then skip the commercials later. I have about 650 shows, all stored on a thumb drive and external hard drive. Works great and no stupid restrictions!!! I get the four major networks plus 31 other stations.

what do you spend on hobbies, in retirement?

This will probably be one of my hobbies when I retire! I also want to see my old automotive magazines. If they go for five dollars each it'll be a second source of income!

    Interesting Frontline last night

I found that it was pretty negative. It's not portraying tons of hope for the future. I need to watch it again. I considered it pretty biased toward the left!

    Old PC's--Anything Worth Salvaging?

There is a market for older, working, PC's on eBay. If your PCs are functional, I would consider selling them on eBay after you've overwritten any personal data on the hard drives. You could also sell them without the hard drive for less money.

    I Need a Newer GPS ... or Do I?

I have a 2008 Mercedes with the built-in GPS and cannot believe how difficult the interface was. You must dial the letters one by one, laboriously. I greatly prefer my 10-year-old Garmin to any of the built-in GPSs in my cars! Its easier to use than a phone as well, I've tried!

Poll: When Did You Cut the Cord (Cable and/or Satellite)?

Yes they do. When you sign up for Ooma, you must provide a valid address where the service is being used. That way, if you dial 911 but can't speak, the local 911 service will know where to send the police. Good question!

Poll: When Did You Cut the Cord (Cable and/or Satellite)?

Since I wanted to keep my traditional phone number, and everyone I ever knew has my old phone number, we signed up for the Ooma phone service. That uses the internet and costs only $8 per month for a traditional landline phone. Works great and we've never had a problem with it. I highly...

Poll: When Did You Cut the Cord (Cable and/or Satellite)?

1994, when I moved out of my parent's home! Have used over-the-air antennas and/or streaming ever since them. I'm living in a home now with no internet so I'm back to OTA antenna and a cheap DVR. I check out what movies I might like to watch using TitanTV.com and then program the DVR to...
