Retiring in first week of July on my 52nd Birthday in less than 90 days

38 K Congratulations. 38K is around 2% of 2 million. I don't think you are at risk for losing much principal. Your asset allocation is 87% stock. You want to re-think that once you retire.

    Blood Pressure

This is really interesting. You doctor with years of experience suggests medication for BP issues which can cause a stroke, heart attack and heart failure and you choose to come on a financial site to get advice from people who could be accountants, taxi drivers, teachers, computer scientists...

Would it be better to invest in a muni fund if I'm still working? Making about 200K while working.

    Bonds and taxes???

Do you have to pay taxes on bond funds such as vanguard total bond admiral fund if you don't withdraw any money or sell? This questions is for a taxable account not 401K or roth etc.

Trying to keep from going batty!

Here is how I thought about it. Lets say you are 50 and you say OMY but have enough to retire now. If you lose OMY of your youth but are able to survive to 100 yo does it matter VS. surviving to 99 and running out of money?

thoughts on retirement portfolio and advise

I would say it's a risky idea. To get the returns you are asking it would have to be very high yield bonds etc. The other term for that is "junk bonds".

    Salary has accelerated to $425,000

You mentioned that you felt the market is overvalued. In some ways it is overvalued. However, you pulled your money from your 401K and put it in more conservative investment and then have a bunch of it in crowdfunding. Crowdfunding would be in the category of some the most risky investments...

    Hi from PNW

Rental income. It comes and it goes. What will you do it you have 50% vacancy? Will you be able to get past that? Have you considered selling it, taking you 4 mil from property sales and using the market as your only means of income?

2 Years to FIRE (I Hope)

4-5% WR at 54 yo can be risky. Trinity study was for 30 years and if you look at it out 50 years that WR might be better at 3 to 3.25%

32 and considering to ER now

My opinion. Do the following. For the short term. Retire. Sleep in till 10 for a while. You won't miss the traffic or the people trying to get to work in a hurry. Get up real early and show up at your favorite coffee shop (I'm sure there are some real good ones in Europe). Kick back and watch...

    Hello from Toddtheaccountant

You have 7 million and after you downsize the house you will have more. If you are bored start you own accounting company and just take the clients that you like. You can be picky and work part time. You can do business accounting consulting. Work as much or as little as you want. When you...

49 year old, needs clarity on ER!

Well you changed the equations a little. (buying another farm). Any large purchase will change your status for retirement. So I would say find out what you want most. Early retirement or a new farm or both. If it's both then the early part won't be as early as previously planned. But you are...

49 year old, needs clarity on ER!

Good work. So I'm in a similar situation. One thing I would ask is are you going to spend 170K pre tax for the rest of your life? Lets say you retire at 50 and live to be 100. Most studies show that spending goes down after 75. Lets say your are in perfect shape and stay that way. Better...

At 47 years old thinking of selling my business for 1 million

My business went down in profits over the last 3 years due to severe market forces. But I anticipated it might. I didn't sell at it's high even though I could get a job and make a comfortable living without the business. I did take the profits and invest. So at the end the profits did not...

Need Annuity advice-brother is foolish with money

"Oldest brother and I don't get along, he tends to disagree with any advice I give mom, so won't be an easy discussion. Oldest brother is executor and a family law attorney, he wrote her will. He does have a big heart towards #2 brother, they are very close, thus he is a big part of the...
