How to deal with taxable holdings with large gains

BTW, I wrote that you could sell a covered option awhile back... well, I just sold one today... and then the stock went up $4 (or course it does... ) and is just a few cents over the strike price... I have no problem with how it goes either way... 8 days left on the option...

    my toxic inheritance

JBTX, that is why I was asking if he got a salary... you put it more bluntly, but it is the direction I was going... It also seems like he does not want to do the work... so any reasonable salary is a no go.... I still think if you cannot sell the shares then just let it liquidate and take...

What is your pet peeve of the day? -- 2021

Which is why I hate digital coupons... just give me the deal when I swipe my card and be done with it... you know what I am buying... only reason to make me have an app is to spy on me...

Another Crazy Homeowners Insurance Premium Situation (resolved)

Of course they will... it is not like they are there to bleed money.... BTW, everybody in Texas is paying for the sky high cost of the freeze a year or two ago... the state has allowed them to charge a small fee for (not sure of this) up to 30 years... Yep... 30 years...

IIRC you have to actually run the full car past the line to get caught... the picture is after the fact so you are beyond the line when it is snapped....

    Vanguard brokerage fees email

LOL... I actually got a snail mail version of the fee increase on my mom's estate account today.... an account which should have been closed years ago but they screwed up and distributed MORE money than it had... Took me 3 years to get them to write it off... but I guess the account is still...

    my toxic inheritance

I might have missed it... are you being PAID a salary for the work you do??? The company I own a small piece in pays the main shareholder a base salary (probably half of what he would get elsewhere) and a 20% bonus on net profits each year... he then gets his share of dividends of the...

Is there a way to see what SS tax you paid every year on the ssa.gov website.

As mentioned, my old paper ones have it by year... the one that is a PDF on the website (which, BTW I am holding in my hand) does not have individual years until 2006... they are grouped prior to that...

    unpairing a remote?

Heck, I was going to suggest that you 'pair' it to another brand TV... then it would not change the volume of your TV... Always a workaround....

A Friend in need , how can I help

Wow... yes, it is worse than you are being told... probably much worse... The $30K would do very little to get them out of trouble.. it MIGHT give them an extra month but then he would need another $30K or more... I would not continue to see this friend if all he talks about is 'needing money'...

    my toxic inheritance

I am with all the others who do not understand... if YOU are the only one keeping the doors open and income flowing then if YOU are not going to be doing it after you sell then your shares are worthless (or close to it)... I have 2% in a small company but have no working involvement with it...

Another Crazy Homeowners Insurance Premium Situation (resolved)

I wish I could have $5K deductible... mine is 2% for most things... 4% for others and I think 5% for hail... and I still pay $2400 which is cheap compared to the over $4k my sister is paying for a cheaper house...

Restaurant adding fee for use of credit card

Handling cash is expensive... and it is variable to the business as the bank charges based on what you get... I did a quick look at found a number of articles on it... I am a bit surprised how expensive it really is... however, I do not know the total cost of a CC purchase... it is not...

A Friend in need , how can I help

Just want to post that I stopped seeing a friend who was horrible with money and even keeping a job... he moved back into his parents home and stayed there until both died... he was always asking for 'help' paying this or that and wanted a 'loan'... I got tired of it and stopped talking to...
