    Blow that Dough 2023

Bought four new tires/rims for the DW's UTV - Honda Pioneer and installed them last week. She took it for a spin up at the Farm and gave them her approval. Heh heh heh - I did try 'Green Slim' on the old tire puncture and THEN decided on the 'Gift'. ;D ;)

    When is enough , enough?

My current Wife came with her own 401k, pension and house. My mindset has learned to stay between my ears - aka 'silence is golden' and 'Yes Dear' now trump my 'frugal' mouth. Heh heh heh - She grew up on a farm so practical and common sense tends to prevail. :coolsmiley: ;)

Not following college football BUT as grad of the old UW back in ancient times when Pac 10 played the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl - gooo Huskies! Heh heh heh - zero knowledge of the strength of the respective teams.

    Blow that Dough 2023

 Ours also went from four something to over five grand this year. Ouch. I hate to research what it cost to build a 1922 'Craftsman Bungalow' in the day. Heh heh heh - It's just ducky to be 'historic.' ;D :greetings10:

Love the practice run but... ...

Hmmm - thirty years ER. No answers but experiences. Have learned to duck people who want volunteers - not always but getting better at NO! as time goes by. Have a number of common shared activities with DW as well as a Man Cave. Up at the Farm(hobby) we have his and hers UTV's and separate...

    ETFs

At age 80 (thirty years ER) my big dog is Vanguard Target Retirement Income having gone to Target series in 2006 ( 60/40 ish). Now more 30/70. Now mad money has creeped up to 8-10% thanks to covid lockdown. VT - vanguard total world stock, Berkshire B, Costco and a long mish mash of small...

America’s Downtowns Are Empty. Fixing Them Will Be Expensive.

Love downtown. BUT I'm a lefthanded INTJ. Grin. We go quite often - lunch. dinner, Farmers Market and various 'neighborhoods'. I've nicknamed - 'The Lofties' - downtowners who rent shun cars - do the walk, bicycle, scooter, public transport, etc. The homeless have some really interesting stories...

Poll: When you retired, how many years of expenses had you saved POLL

Odd Ball here. Lay off at age 50. Cut expenses 85% or so. Rental plus for sale by owner RE. 5 Years from non cola pension and 12 from early SS. A mish mash of some temp work, sold and consume RE proceeds, some dividend stocks, etc. Heh heh heh - looking back - big dog was letting index funds...

Poll: Lowest equity allocation possible from retirement tools

Hmmm - best guess 30 - 40% cause that's what my Target Retirement Income roughly tracks. My opinion/research counts zero since at age 80 I have Godfather's - an offer I can't refuse.' ;D. Namely RMD (da govt.) and my full auto Target since 2006. Let my expenses drift up since ??? 'you...

Fixed Income is hard..... do not know which way to go

ER'd at 50. Played around with close to everything - Rental RE, div stocks, mutual - psst Wellesley, etc. But the big dog was 60/40 index rebalanced periodically. Threw in the towel age 62 - went full auto via Vanguard Target Retirement. Main retirement is still there at age 80. Did the 4% rule...

How many sources of income do you have?

Roughly in descending order: 1. RMD roll over IRA 2. SS 3. 2nd RMD inherited IRA 4. Roth 5. non cola pension 6. Mad Monet - taxable dividends and cap gains - varies by year. 7. Farm - Two govt. checks - land CRP-2 and this year 'Pollinator Habitat'. Heh heh heh - Of course DW came at age 70...

If Mr. Bogle believed that low cost index funds is the way to go...?

  Active funds/stocks/RE/precious metals /etc./etc since 1966. Bogle since 1977ish in my 401k - 'bought the haystack cause the needles are in there.' - or ' hurry up just stand there.' 60/40 to start cause that's what I perceived pension funds did to 30/70 at age 80 via Target...
