Bill Introduced To Eliminate Federal Taxation Of Social Security Benefits?

I don't think they should eliminate taxes on SS until after they can figure out how to extend the date at which the surplus is due to run out. To do anything with SS before doing that would be making a "bad" situation even worse. If they could somehow combine an extension solution with tax...

    EV Models Excluding Tesla models

Yeah, the acceleration to merge onto a freeway can be pretty handy when needed. I do notice my relatively slow Bolt EUV (compared to other EV's) the most in those situations....and it's definitely nice to have. :)

    EV Models Excluding Tesla models

They may be doing the "cheerleader" thing but I don't see many other manufacturers "touching" the 35k price with anywhere near the same features as the Equinox EV. Hard to argue with that. I think that's the main reason they picked the Equinox as their car of the year. What's wrong with...

    EV Models Excluding Tesla models

I was a little surprised to see that MotorWeek selected the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV as it's 2025 Best of the Year winner. After listening to their reasoning on the MotorWeek TV show, it makes sense...it's a very affordable EV, starting at about $35k, that can appeal to the "average" buyer and has...

    EV Models Excluding Tesla models

I get a kick out of people bragging that their EV goes 0 to 60 in anything under 5 seconds....like when is that even that practical? Maybe when you're trying to merge onto the freeway? Or passing someone. But most of that extra acceleration power is pretty much not used most of the time....or...

    EV Models Excluding Tesla models

You make it sound like you can't be satisfied with an EV unless you have EVERY single bell and whistle that is available. That could NOT be further from the truth. I drive my base model Chevy Bolt EUV about 3,000 miles a year (or less). I do NOT need all those extra features and they would be...

    Latest Inflation Numbers and Discussion

Get ready for inflation to take off again if the ill advised tariffs actually take place. Insane. On a positive note, it could bring me better CD rates! :)

    Newly retired at 51...

Congrats...Enjoy!. I retired at 53 (I'm 68 now)...was a computer programmer and was extremely burned out. I had always expected to go back to work but was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (blood cancer) at 56 and said screw it, why go back to work now. It all worked out for the best. I was...

    EV Models Excluding Tesla models

Same here...2023 EUV...love it. No problems. It's got everything I need. I hear about all of the bells and whistles of other newer and more expensive EV's and I see no reason to upgrade. I have never charged my vehicle other than in my own garage. The slower charging of it has never been an...

    EV Models Excluding Tesla models

I'd like to start a thread for EV's excluding Tesla models. There are a few other threads that quickly get dominated by Tesla. Perhaps this one won't get that much response, but it would be nice to not have to read through a "zillion" Tesla comments just to get to a few non Tesla EV comments...

    Modeling Social Security 2033 Insolvency

Current politicians (no names) about to move into power talk about SS as though it's part of the national deficit causing many of our problems. As we all know, it's only part of the deficit because the trust fund money was "borrowed/stolen" and is owed/needs to be paid back. That kind of talk...

    Electric Vehicles - Models Discussion

IMO, even when they re-do a model, I have to stare at it for a few minutes to determine what changed. For a Tesla fan, it's probably obvious, but for everyone else, it usually isn't.

    Electric Vehicles - Models Discussion

Expect sales to continue to miss targets due to the polarizing effect of the CEO. Time will tell if there's a counteracting force going on with that as well though.

"You Can Never Go Back" ... Just Tried Return to Work ... Mission Aborted

I haven't read all of the posts in this thread, so I apologize if I repeat what someone else said.... Before I retired, I had jobs that I hated (I was a contract computer programmer). I had written emails to friends about what I didn't like about the job and why I left, etc. Later, if I was...

Activity might be the most important thing.

I'm pretty lazy yet I almost find time to do some sort of exercise most days. I don't necessarily equate not doing anything physical to being lazy. Finding time to exercise is what I call "making a priority". I put off lots of things...I call that being lazy and being a procrastinator. I'm...

Activity might be the most important thing.

You can definitely extend your life by being more mentally AND physically active. Having said that, some people come up short on the genetic and "luck" factors which affects how long they live and/or how old they look. If you're unlucky enough to be diagnosed with cancer, dementia...

A Friend in need , how can I help

Do NOT give them money unless you consider it a gift and you won't be disappointed if it only helps them temporarily and they end up right back where they started just a short time later. This doesn't sound like a short term fix. Unless you have control over their spending (which you probably...

Anyone else NOT watch the news?

I can see not watching every little thing in the news, but ignoring it completely and sticking your head in the sand is NOT a good thing. Now is the time in our nation's history to be INFORMED about the truth.

    TMobile internet

I had it for about a year and finally got rid of it. I liked it because the speeds were good but the jitter was very high and so the connection didn't work very well for my phone over internet (I use Ooma). The phone calls would break up a lot and became very annoying and almost unusable at...

Why are older Americans drinking so much

I don't like alcoholic drinks very much. I get hungover easily so I'm down to less than 5-10 drinks/beers per year. It's just not a high priority for me and I don't even think about much it anymore. Once a person gets used to not drinking, they usually don't miss it much at all. If I really...
