    Health Share - why not?

So far haven't seen any comments where someone actually had a bad experience with a health share besides Liberty. One bad actor in the industry is hardly enough to discredit all. Countrywide mortgage and others screwed many yet we still have home loans being sold. Gov't oversight didn't help...

    Health Share - why not?

Some interesting comments above. Life itself is a gamble. Not to be flippant or carefree it seems insurance and health share plans both have their horror stories and "holy cow that worked better than I could have imagined". I'm still looking at Zion as it has the best reviews, seems the most...

    Health Share - why not?

With all respect to opinions above I am still considering a Health Share over traditional Health Insurance. Seeing some good reviews here https://healthshareguide.org/the-top-three-healthshares-in-2024/ also some of the RV forums that I frequent have good things to say. The more I think about...

    Health Share - why not?

Been reading and searching about Health Share options from what I can see they sound appealing. Anyone have experience good or bad? ACA Coverage for me as a single male age 52 with an annual gross income of about $80,000 to 120,000 will be steep. I like the health share model where you tell...

What is your favourite "Regular" Sipping Liquor - (Neat No Mixers Except Perhaps Ice)

When I did drink... Sambucca Black was a favorite. Strong black licorice flavor that would clear the sinus better than anything at local pharmacy. If not available Jack or Tequila would suffice

Can we have a discussion on security cameras?

Considering cameras as well just not sure how far down the rabbit hole I want to go. Currently using a couple old cell phones connected to WiFi, no cellular, and the Free App Alfred. It gives email alerts as well. One phone did not like being plugged in 24 x 7 so a smart plug with a scheduled...

Methods to Persuade Geese to Leave?

Canadian Geese are Evil. Sure they may look pretty but their poop is slippery and nasty. For some reason they are protected though so anything I say about harrassing or harming is from hearsay not personal knowledge. Deterents must be varied and constantly changing. * Bottle Rockets * R/C...

    SmartPhone Cameras WOW!

A bit off topic but not really accurate to still call these devices ”a phone”. Personally I do way more email, web browsing, navigating, etc than phone calls on my errr 'phone'. Don't have a landline or cable TV either.

    Recommendation for trying RVing

Lots of options for just as many tastes We bought a 2005 Tiffin Phaeton summer of 2020. My only complaint.... it's too small. Yup, at 40 feet long I would like more room :) In the year we have had it only stayed in a campground once - yuck. Preference is Harvesthosts.com - you stay for free...

And you thought you had it all

Lots of judgemental comments here with few facts. The rig in original pic most likely isn't $350k. Why? Radiator on the rear. High end models put radiator on the side. I picked up a 15 year old for $50k, still purrs like a kitten while cruising down the road. Key is to buy quality that will last.

    What's wrong with Schwab?

My IRAs & day to day checking are with Schwab quite happy. Easy to get a live person. 401k is at Fidelity. Impossible to get a person.

    Any RV retirees out there?

$10 gallon fuel.... yes it would / will be painful. However steep prices will drive research into new fuels & efficiency.

Early retirement traveling on ACA healthcare

Also hoping for a similar plan as outlined by OP. Curious why emergency only coverage is a big deal. If traveling seems reasonable to plan non emergency care around covered areas. No?

Where Do You Park Your Cash These Days?

Yup, but still 1% is miles ahead of 0.01 where it is now. Is T-Mobile's $3k limit based on average daily balance for the month or some other method?

Where Do You Park Your Cash These Days?

T-Mobile Money? saw the mention of T-Mobile Money - any reviews? Thinking I may give it a go. Currently using Schwab.com for my day to day bill pay & checking. No complaints but 4% sounds quite tempting.

Where Do You Park Your Cash These Days?

Years ago I used money markets from Ford, GMAC, Caterpillar & Discover then I got busted for exceeding the withdrawal limits. Now I'm selling puts on stocks I would not mind owning. If the shares are put to me I hold until time is right to sell. If they expire worthless or bought back at a...

Who wants to be a billionaire (almost)

Some states require winners to be public knowledge. Logic being if it is public the people know it is not a scam. Wonder if it would be possible to gift the ticket to charity with understanding charity makes donor beneficiary of an annuity. In reality might be better odds I run into both...

    Social Security & FIRE Planning

This is the part that scares me & how the gap will be made up "by 2035, the payroll taxes collected will be enough to pay only about 79 percent of scheduled benefits." So not expecting much seems like a safe bet. This way if I'm wrong it will most likely be a pleasant surprise. Not planning...

    Social Security & FIRE Planning

How much should I discount Social Security in my FIRE calculations? I've been using about 30% the SSA estimate in my calculations and plans, is that too aggressive? Too conservative? Me & DW both 49 years old Annual expenses are about 4% of total savings all of which is in retirement...

Weird unknown deposit into a Roth account

Fidelity has been annoying and profitable for me over the years. They duped a payroll deposit into my account 20 ish years ago. They insisted it was valid so I left the funds in the account as a buffer for about a year. About 16 years ago they gave me a 0% forever credit card offer with a huge...

    Schwab vs. Fidelity??

Should also mention use your account size to your advantage. That is tell the prospective broker asset size and ask what they will give to bring it over.
