    Lipoflavinoid

My wife has tried ginko, it didn't help. I have found that the Lipoflavinoid is nothing but a vitamin suppliment, with A and B in it. I have heard that people with tinittus are deficient in these vitamins. It might be best to just try straight A and B vitamins.

Samclem is right. The only reason we lost Vietnam was the half measures made.

    Hobbies in ER

My hobby is restoring a 150 year old farm house and barn. In the proccess we found a newspaper called The Canadian Agriculturalist dated 1856. It was in one of the walls in the attic. Also, like to brew beer, whole grain method.

    Doing Nothing in ER

When I was working I worked with many people who had "subacute depression" and seem to have over the years regressed mentally/ intellectually on the job. It's not about whether your working or not.

    Rule of 55

I retired this year at the age of 55. I have heard that the rule of 55 says I can withdraw any 401k or Ira money I want. Does this mean anytime from now on or just this year? And if I want to do this now or later how do I show this rule applies.

A good day to be retired

I retired August 1st, and live in the northern part of the country. When working I would tell my wife in the winter, "if the roads are bad I'm not going to work". She would laugh because she knew if there was any way to make it I would go. Ice, snow even "white outs" would not stop me. I always...

    Wandering

My son is moving to one of these communities in Ann Arbor. THey talk alot about their "community" and their diversity, but it seems it is only liberal ideas that are allowed.

    Wandering

Things sure seem to move quickly in retirement. Since my first post I had a job offer in the field I retired from. This made me realize that I don't want to work in the field anymore and I also don't want full time work at all. Also, many of you mention volunteering. I always have been private...

    Wandering

I recently retired from a large corporation as a skilled tradesman. I liked my job, worked alot of hours, made lots of money and would have worked a few more years but they were closing my plant and offered early incentives to go. So, after more than 35 years I left. Although I think it was the...

    Fidelity Promark funds

Thanks, ats5g for the link to GM assett management. Didn't understand what instituational run fund meant. The Promark seem to be lower cost than comperable Fidelity funds. Thanks too, jazz4cash for the Promark info. Now that I am getting the reallocating finished I can start thinking if I...

    Fidelity Promark funds

I still am confused by the "rule of 55". I now hear that money in an IRA doesn't apply, that you can't take it out without penalty before 59 1/2. Thinking of paying off mortgage over the next five to six years from the 401k or whatever. It is hard to figure if it's better or not. Paying it down...

    Fidelity Promark funds

I was a diemaker for GM for 38 years. Might have worked a few more but they are closing my plant and didn't see going elsewhere as an option. It's working out for the best because it helped to make the decision to go easier. As far as investing I do use the netbenefits site to move things. Had...

    Fidelity Promark funds

I am 55 and just retired from GM Aug. 1st. Thought about rolling 401k to IRA with Vanguard and was talked into staying with the 401k of Fidelity. I know about the rule of 55, so withdrawals are not a problem. Just not sure at all which way to go 401k, IRA, Vanguard, mix of Fid. funds and Promark...

    Fidelity Promark funds

I have been trying to decide if I should rollover my 401k to an IRA. It is inn a Fidelity (General Motors) run 401k and would stay in a Fidelity IRA. There are alot of Fidelity funds I can't get into with the 401k. But I recently read about Promark funds, part of the 401k plan. The prblem is I...

    Rule of 55

Thanks for responses. I didn't know how search worked. Does anyone have preference of Vanguard funds opposed to Fidelity in general? I was all set to move to Vanguard IRA but not sure now

    Rule of 55

i recently retired, this week. I was thinking of rolling my 401k into an IRA so I could get into different funds. I am now in a Fidelity 401k. I just found out about the "Rule of 55". As I understand it I can take out as much as I want from my 401k without penalty. If this is true I was...

    Hi, I'm sooner

Well, today was my last day of work, officially retired. At a presentation of retirement plaques and stuff one of the other retirees was given a plaque with his service time of 60 years. He is in his eighties and seems to move like a much much younger man. I don't know what seems more...

    Hi, I'm sooner

One week from retirement. Glad when it's over. So many people making a fuss, dinners and such. Want to make a routine but suppose I'll just let it happen. At times it seems like there are so many things I want to do and then there are times when I can't think of one thing to do. One thing for...

    Hi, I'm sooner

Maybe this is in the wrong area for this post but my financial concern, besides the initial blow to weekly pay is investments. I won't be able to tap in to 401k or IRAs for three and a half years. Also, in the past I've been fairly aggressive with assett allocations, nearly all stocks few bonds...

    Hi, I'm sooner

After rereading my 2 posts I thought I sounded kind of a whiner. I don't mean to complain. I'm fortunate to have had the job working for GM. And have planned for retirement fairly well. It's just the shock, realization that it will happen in a few weeks. But, the closer it gets excitement is...

    Hi, I'm sooner

Kept saying 1 or 2 more years I'll quit. Things would always come up, besides college, college, wedding, or such. Now that it's here I don't feel really prepared. I worry that I had to much identity wrapped up in my job. Also, more than 40% cut in income is a shock.

    Hi, I'm sooner

I'm sooner, like retiring sooner than I thought I would, 55 years old. I'm a GM worker who's plant is closing. The early incentive GM offered is ok but I would have liked to work more as skilled trades. Have any of you been almost forced into early retirement? Was it a good thing?
