    Break-even SS 62 vs 66 vs 70 calculators ?

This is exactly correct. And my calculations using multiple longevity calculators predict I will die before the age of 78 so I am going to start taking SS at age 62.

Where to relocate to - warmer, urban-cultural, affordable, walkable?

Acknowledged. Just pointing out that hurricanes is NOT a significant problem for Savannah. Sure...the odds are higher than inland cities, but for a coastal city....actually fairly well protected due to the Gulf Stream. Now crime is another matter.....

Where to relocate to - warmer, urban-cultural, affordable, walkable?

"crimes and hurricanes"...... OMG....New Orleans is so much more likely to be hit by hurricanes than Savannah. Look at this map of all hurricane hits from 1950-2005 (doesn't even count Katrina). Georgia has had ONE hit. Now look at the area around New Orleans on this map. And crime is not...

So which car should I let my kid drive?

I bought each of my daughters a used honda accord as their first car. For my son, a used midsize truck. I wanted something safe, reliable, but not too small. The miata, IMO, is just too small. Physics goes against it in a collision with another, likely bigger car. If it is a large SUV, then...

Got something in our crawl space

We had wood rats (common in the south) in our old house attic. We would hear them scurrying around and gnawing on the wood. Critter Control came and found a hole in the vent screen that they accessed our house. He set out traps, closed the hole, and came back later to remove the dead rats. No...

Final Stages of 2nd home purchase-Need Input

We too had rental condos. One in a college town and one at our local beach. The college condo was rented out full time. The beach condo was rented out most of the time. We used it approximately 2 weeks a year. It turned out to be more hassle than it was worth. We couldn't just go to the beach...

    Tire Mileage

Cooper Tires Have used Cooper brand tires for years. I guess I liked the fact that Arnold Palmer recommended them in their ad. Have never had a problem with them and they are cheaper than Michelins. I am replacing a set on my Honda Accord tomorrow. They were rated for 60,000 miles and I got...

    Credit cards for an 18-year-old

I don't understand it either. She was told she didn't have a credit history and coupled with no income, she was denied. But thanks to Citicard, she got a credit card in her name (and I did NOT have to co-sign).

    Credit cards for an 18-year-old

I have been a long time carrier of a Citicard mastercard. My daughter has had this card to use (as an authorized user on my account). I thought it would help "build her credit" but I must have been misinformed. Regular payments only affected my credit. She just graduated from college. I...

Ours is paid off also....and I haven't shared this information with ANY family members. IMO, it is none of their business. However, if any of them point blank asked me if I had a mortgage, I would then tell them.

I don't know if it will hit 800 anytime soon, but I do believe it is quite possible and actually probable that it will hit 500 in the next year. So I picked up some in the 380's and some in the 370's today. I also told my daughter and son in law to buy some and hold it for the next 20...
