do you weigh your high school weight?

My son was brutally skinny in HS - wrestled 103 his frosh year, then 112, then 135 (after he started lifting), and finished at 152, in 1995. Now almost 30 years later, he's still about the same weight and still lifts (with his 2 boys who are on the same varsity HS team this year, a frosh at 106...

do you weigh your high school weight?

I too wrestled all 4 years of HS (95, 95, 103, & 112) and then 2 years in college at 118. So I lived on a scale for 6 years, finished school at 130, and am now 160.

Two years in a row TurboTax has gotten me for an extra $25

It is hardly `penny pinching' when someone as long retired (23+ years) as I, can easily afford something I can do myself and actually find doing it entertaining and fun, so I do it every year myself for zero $. I was merely responding to those here (like the OP) complaining about the expense of...

Two years in a row TurboTax has gotten me for an extra $25

Same here. I never understand why people pay anything to get their taxes done when they can print out the forms, fill them in themselves, keep a copy for their own records, and mail them in for free (except the cost of a couple stamps, of course).

What are people cutting back on?

I've been retired for 23 years, and with my wife's pension, our SS's, and the tiny amount we've needed to supplement those from our IRA's, we've had to cut back on absolutely nothing. Life is good for we retirees!

Any other "Car Guys" planning for FIRE?

We loved our 04 Murano (the 2nd year of Muranos, and we had the sport version that was only offered for a very short time), and kept it for 17 years until giving it to our daughter last year. I had heard there were issues with Nissan CVT's - especially the early ones like we had - but ours...

What are your hobbies? Changed in retirement??

11 years ago (in 2009, and 10 years after I retried when I was 49) I restarted my childhood kart racing hobby. Since then, I've done a variety of sprint and enduro karting events (mostly rental - arrive-and-drive karting, up to22 each year) at a number of tracks along the east coast. At an 8...

    What do you splurge on

I made the switch from Nissans to Bimmers in retirement. Didn't feel I really needed to go the M route, but my sport version 335xi with red leather and MT is pretty close.

    Waited too long to retire?

As our great president Bill Clinton once said - `It's just math.' When the math (including a few reasonable assumptions, of course) supports it, you retire. It's really THAT simple.

What is your pet peeve of the day?

I've recently seen a guy here in the US whose name is Rafael, and he's been calling himself `Ted' trying to convince Americans he is from here too! So maybe `Ed' was legit?

What is your pet peeve of the day?

Why not just rotate them yourself? In a little more than the time it took to type this post, I do my own tire rotations in my driveway (or garage if it's raining out. Of course then, I usually just wait for the next sunny day). Life's way too short to waste time driving to a tire store, waiting...
