Update 10 years since I posted. DH retired in Feb. 2015. We started our "retirement trip" and it turned into a trip to see my mom who at the time was diagnosed with cancer. I was very fortunate to be able to spend 3 months with her since we had retired. Since DH retired we have made 5...

    Housing dilemma approaching RE

We have been retired since 2015 and had enough cash taken out of our retirement funds to fund till SS at 62. We purchased a house in March 2020. It took a while for our credit union to understand we didn't have monthly income (except a small pension of my DH) coming in because we had been...

Having to Jump Thru Hoops to Close Edward Jones Account

This is what I did when my mom died. I transferred all but about $100 out of the accounts to my personal accounts then closed the accounts. Worked great since my name was already on the accounts. No questions asked.

I am worried that new front tooth crown color will not match other teeth

I have 28 crowns in my mouth. Some of them are going on 3 different crowns for the same tooth. I have never had a mismatched crown. All the different dentists I have been to over the years did an excellent job of matching the color. I don't think you have anything to worried about. Good...

    timing SS start

+1 This is my thinking for taking my ss at 62. DH already took it at 62. Rather have the money now while we are still physically able to go and do the things on our bucket list. After COVID of course.

    Another Can I Retire Question

DH is 63 and I am 61. We currently pay $1,876 per month with an $3,300 deductible for ACA healthcare. I do have to admit, our ACA plan sucks but it will have to do until we both get on Medicare. Don't want to wish our lives away, but can't wait till we turn 65. Will get a big raise! Yay!

I will never be in that club, but I did grow up with Truett Cathy's kids. (He is/was the owner and creator of Chick fil a. His net worth was about 350 million many years ago. You could never know a more humble man. He never flaunted his money. He still lived in his 2000 square foot house in...
