    Real Estate Bubble?

In my view, the moratorium playing out without an attendant cure is simply a taking. If society benefits from helping tenants in dire straits keep their housing, then we should all pay part of the bill, not just landlords. I have sold two single family homes that were rented, and soon have...

How to respond to a neighbor’s request

If he owns livestock, he should also know his way around fencing, or at least know some fence contractors. "Months" to repair a 5 wire fence? He's got the cart before the horse here. Fix fence, get horse then. Build a corral fence set in a corner of the pasture till it's fixed. I agree a...

For those enjoying sport bikes in FIRE

If by that you mean ride it to 100% of it's capability, I agree. Very few enthusiasts do that with any bike, but we don't let that stop our enjoying the machine in the myriad ways they can be enjoyed. Many purchasers of the bike in question will turn it into a garage queen, but that's their...

    Your recent repair? 2013 - 2020

I recently bought a used ultrasonic cleaner on ebay and have used it to clean two motorcycle carbs with it. Works well on carbs as well as other items that will fit in the bath. Heating the bath to about 140 f is essential, so I added a teacup immersion heater to the setup.

Look at your 2017 Part D plan very carefully

The patent on Novolog expired June 20th of this year. I have no idea how long it will take to get a generic approved.

Anyone Waiting for the Canadian RE Bubble to Burst to Buy a Property?

Policy experiments related to real estate are popular in Vancouver. In 1988 the large Expo '86 site was sold to a Hong Kong developer for a very low price. The resulting development and public amenities served up as part of the deal drew international attention. Buy in programs for immigrants...

    Anyone climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro?

In my youth I climbed Rainier a few times. Predicting who would have trouble after 12k was impossible. A few very aerobically fit people got sick and some average joes did just fine. I say go for it. One thing I do remember is how hard it was for people to gauge their level of hydration, which...

    Tired of changes to Yahoo

".... how is that improvement" The quotation marks around improvement in my post are there to suggest sarcasm. I feel you. I have this picture of cadres of young coders making changes to things that have nothing to do with usability, but simply allow them to crow "dude, check this change I...

    Tired of changes to Yahoo

SOP for any website, seems to me. Have you found one that doesn't change over time? Usually these changes are are an effect built into "improvements" to sites. I have to google features about google pages to learn detailed operation and controls. Another topic, but I am guessing Yahoo will be...

    Bullying

I just looked up "nerfing" and it now seems to mean "making everyday experiences ridiculously safe" . I first pictured some hotshoes ramming each other on a dirt oval... I guess I am approaching the point where all my expressions have been converted by pop culture into something else. Danger...

    Workmen and their vehicles....

You guys waiting for your money, have you looked into filing liens? Great leverage and it establishes a hard claim that is very difficult to expunge unless satisfied. State laws vary, but usually there are local lawyers who specialize and do it cheap. Wealthy or nominally high status people...

    Landfill rejects

That's a fair argument for not landfilling, I was assuming "not in the landfill" was a perception of potential harm to human health. Smoke detectors have been around a long time, I think it's surprising they are left out of convenient recycling programs if the material is recoverable and...

    Landfill rejects

Being responsible is the thing, in this case to me, this means teasing out the real level of risk at the regulatory [municipal disposal] level and behaving accordingly. I'm not a nuclear guy, maybe I'm missing something important, but this disposal prohibition sounds like something cooked up by...

    Landfill rejects

A quick thought about radioactive materials in smoke detectors ended like this: " we must live in their presence forever, but can't bury them in the garbage" . That thought set my meter off. I came across this: "The radiation dose to the occupants of a house from a domestic smoke detector is...

    Time for new wheels...

Well, lots of us men are still trying to puzzle out why many women we have known must own enough pairs of shoes to fit out an entire chorus line several times over. Yes, there is a difference! ;D
