I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

The new NIH director admitted in an interview released today that the Covid virus persists in tissues. Quote: Faust: I just want to follow up on something you said a moment ago about where this virus can be found in tissues. Are you suggesting that long COVID is actually, the mechanism of...

It would be best to test for Covid. If she gets Long Covid and does not have a positive test, she may be denied treatment later.

State Tax Refund Lost In Mail

I had one not make it to the mailbox after it showed on Informed Delivery. I caught up with the substitute mail delivery guy on the next street up. Said he did not have it and he put all the mail in my box. I immediately filed a lost report and tried several times to notify the IRS. I could...

    Buying a New Car

The gas powered Camry is being discontinued after the 2024 model year. Only hybrid models will be available. One of the local dealers is part of the Costco buying program. Between that and the dealer discount, you can buy a Camry for several thousand dollars off msrp.

    Long Covid

I have been sick with Long Covid for four years. Covid is a persistent virus for many. It's similar to FeCoV in cats, which can stay dormant for years. It's too early to know whether you will have symptomatic Long Covid. Resting for an extended time and not returning to normal activities too...

    Experience with State Farm?

Had State Farm since the beginning. Parents used them as well. They insure the rentals, and were easy to deal with on a hail damaged roof 15 plus years ago, Their umbrella max here is $5MM. A lot has to do with the agent and who they have as support staff. Both my local agent and the agent...

    NY & SF commutable areas?

With SF, I would stay away from the bridges. Travel time is very unpredictable. Try San Mateo County, preferably northern for the commute. Executive areas are generally further south. Price range and desired type of housing would be helpful.

    Handling old DRP's

I agree about the squeaky wheel. I should have gotten a 1099 last year, as the income was in excess of the minimum. This year, the omission is egregious.

    Handling old DRP's

I have a number of very old DRP's, dating from over 20 years ago, before real discount brokerages. I have been lazy about moving the accounts over to Fido or Schwab. There are several servicers of these, of which Computershare is the largest. Last year and this year, I have been unable to...

    Medicare advantage plan

The key words are "medically necessary." Advantage insurers hire doctors, often in unrelated fields, to decide procedures and treatments are not "medically necessary." The stories are endless.

I routinely buy 13 and 26 week bills, as they have been the sweet spot recently. Whatever cash is sitting in the brokerage accounts gets deployed, unless it is earmarked for the periodic index fund purchases.

I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

People are still getting very sick and dying. The information is not being widely publicized. You may have some immunity that helped you with this mutation. My overall bet is still on the virus.

    Fidelity calls

Somehow I have been shifted out of Fido Private Client Group. I'm now with the "Active Trader Services Team. This is insane. The only active "trading" I have done is buying T bills and CD's and reinvesting the proceeds. The mutual funds automatically reinvest dividends. There are some...
