Anyone have a "walking pad" as opposed to a treadmill?

Love walking outside in good weather. We downsized 5 yrs ago to a tiny house in a safe lake community. Lots of senior walkers, bikers, dog walkers, grandparents pushing strollers midday. Now rehabbing my second hip replacement. Bought an inexpensive UREVO walking pad on Amazon for foul weather...

Long Wait Time to get Appointment with Dermatologist

Took a couple weeks for an initial dermatologist appt to check the growth on my upper lip. She suggested that a plastic surgeon would do a better job biopsying it given it's size and location. I appreciated her reluctance to leave more disfigurement than necessary. Plastic surgeon was seen...

    Earthquake in NJ

We live in the center of Morris County NJ. Our entire neighborhood congregated in the street together. Some older folks, some babies, several dogs. Alot of talking over each other, wondering what it was. My DH brought his phone out and we got to read the local alerts and the ones from NYC 30...

    Baseball 2024

Cautiously thinking the Yankees are a different (better) team this year. Happy to see that there may be other legitimate hitters in addition to Judge. I know it's early. But a girl can dream.

    Baseball 2024

Kinda amazed the Yankees came back from down 0-4 today. Of course on the way to squeaking out the 5-4 win, they left the bases loaded 3 times I think. Still, was really nice to start the season with a win.

    Baseball 2024

It was amazing seeing Giancarlo Stanton hit THREE massive home runs in one game the other day. Hope that this is a good sign for the Yankees.

    Hip pain only at night

Get a pelvic X ray. Even my uneducated eyeballs could see the mess in both my hips due to osteoarthritis. Had anterior right hip replacement 3 months ago. First surgery of any kind in my 67 years..Short walks with cane after a week. Did a month of PT and resumed pain free mile walks at 2...

    What Was Your First Word?

jollystomper, had to laugh at your post. We have a now 2 yr old grandson who followed right in your footsteps. I cared for him a fews days a week while his parents worked. From very early on, he wanted me to walk him around his house and point out lamps, sconces, ceiling lights, etc saying...

What is the last thing you ordered from Amazon?

A very basic Urevo walking pad for $219. Wasted a bunch of time researching ellipticals and treadmills across the price spectrum. Finally decided this one was cheap but seemingly good enough for old people like me rehabbing a new hip going into winter. Maximum 4 mph!

Paying at the time of service... but it is the wrong charge

Hard to figure. The behavior of the office staff never seems nefarious just persistently wrong.

Paying at the time of service... but it is the wrong charge

badatmath, you are VERY far from impatient. So very frustrating Im sure. Really odd that even the insurance company hasnt seemed to make an impression on the office.

Paying at the time of service... but it is the wrong charge

Have never had this problem until we switched to a new dentist about 3 yrs ago. We pay for Delta dental insurance privately as we lost employer coverage when I retired DH and I both consume a fair amount of dental care so the numbers fir the insurance work for us. Both our old and new dentists...

    probably delaying retirement plan

Im a pretty anxious person generally. Married 40 plus years, raised two kids. Decided early to stash 20% in 403b and live on the rest of our low 6 figure income. Husband is cancer survivor, i have a chronic health condition. It was obviously 'time' in our early 60s, healthwise, stresswise...

    Doctor Meet and Greet Questions

First name, last name.... either is fine with me. Just dont ever try Honey or Sweetie or similar just because I have grey hair! I worked with many doctors during my work life. And became professionally close with some. I never thought to address any Doctor by first name, no matter our age...

    Big Fidelity bonus

Ive tried unsuccessfully to stop reading these occasional posts about Fidelity bonuses We had two small IRAs at Fidelity 4 years ago when i retired. I moved my 403b account from Empower to an IRA at Fidelity. A sizeable amount by any standards. Never thought a bonus was a possility, never...

    Creating a paycheck in retirement

Been retired 3 years. We maintain a checking acct at a local brick and mortar bank. Savings acct at Ally online. IRAs at Fidelity. Best CD, MM Rates & Bank Special Deals Thread 2023 - Please post updates here

The no penalty feature at Ally works for me. I just closed one from a month ago paying 3.8%> Turned around and bought the 4.75% in two smaller chunks. After 6days, i can close one or both if their rate increases. Takes about 10 min online to update at Ally.. Not the highest rate, but suits me.

    Don’t need social security

We're in a relatively small subgroup of retirees. We have an adult disabled child who began receiving SSI at age 18. When I began collecting SS at age 63, she became eligible for DAC benefits on my earning record. It about doubled her monthly benefit and enables her to fund supported housing in...

Why Doctors (Practices) Hate Computers (Still)...

I worked in hospitals/laboratories/healthcare for 40+ years. Can't remember how many new installations and "upgrades" I lived through. Some better than others. Now, a retired medical consumer of various specialty practices, unfortunately. Each with their own patient 'portal'. BUT the portals...

    Property Tax 2023

Our too high NJ property taxes of $6200 on our small 2 bedroom retirement single family get us excellent services at least. About half of our pre-retirement taxes on larger SFH. In 2023, we will qualify for a 'senior freeze' going forward. That is much anticipated and will be appreciated.

    Fodmaps and IBS symptoms

Not a doctor. Not trying to scare anyone. Just a patient with longtime chronic Ulcerative Colitis. I'd second the suggestion to see a GI specialist to rule out related conditions if not already done (sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, blood and stool tests). I have IV infusions to control my UC and...
