    Karma? A Chilling Story

I am a skeptic. No yelling. The first drivers licenses were issued in 2 states, MA & MS in 1903 and no test was required. Many states didn't require drivers licenses and many didn't have a driver's test even if a license was required. So your grandfather could have gotten the licenses for your...

How much do you spend per month on fitness?

Badatmath, you don't have to do 3 sets of 10, do 3 sets of 5 and work your way up. I use to go to the gym and had a trainer before my husband passed. Yearly dues were $420 and sessions with the trainer I can't remember the price. A neighbor told his buddies that my husband had passed and some...

    Velcro shoe ties

I've never had Velcro wear out. I use Velcro straps for the handle on my walk behind mower and they've been on there for years. I attach and remove the Velcro straps every time I start and stop the mower. They do sell rolls, straps and small squares of Velcro that you could use to fix your...

    Free COVID tests available again....

mn54, it depends on what kind of doctor. I wouldn't think a heart specialist or oncologist would want to see you if you have covid.

Uh oh, is this my brother in law? He has an appointment on Thursday that took months to get. Sorry, feel better.

Why are older Americans drinking so much

Neither my grandparents or my parents drink, I'll have to ask them if they drank when they were younger. I don't remember them drinking and there has never been alcohol at any of the family parties. I can remember one uncle bringing a 6 pack to a picnic. My husband and I drank when we were...

Need to limit my account viewing.

Still working and accumulating and I check my accounts a couple times a day. I am use to the ups and downs and do not sell stocks when the markets are going crazy. I'm in my early 50's and don't trade as much any more. Playinwith fire is right, don't look as often if it is stressing you out. I'm...

Show off your dog..or other pet..and how well he/she is treated (and fed)!

Is there a longer life that all the animals eating today's brands achieve versus what they use to eat years ago? Or is it all marketing to buy the higher priced food? My grandparents and parents feed their/our dogs and cats (cats supplemented their diet with barn kills) dry kibble (Purina 50 lbs...

Show off your dog..or other pet..and how well he/she is treated (and fed)!

Some great looking cats, dogs and kids. The Maine cats are cool looking. I've never seen that breed in person. Love all the dogs and wish I could have one. People tried to talk me into getting a dog when my husband passed but since I'm still working I didn't think it would be fair to the dog...

    Wild fires in Texas

I tried looking online but don't see anything about the town that was encircled by fire and the people were told to shelter in place. Any news if they are okay? Are any of the fires 100% contained.

    Wild fires in Texas

I'm hoping that none of the forum members are in the area of this fire. They are saying on my local news that a town is encircled and they are telling people to shelter in place. I can't imagine being told to shelter in place. Please keep safe.

    Costco comments and questions

+1 on the shrinkage issue, Costco isn't having a big problem compared to other retailers. This was on the news a lot towards the end of the year. At my Costco I use my Costco Citi Visa to enter. I usually go through the self checkout. Last year there was some kind of notification or news...

    DW's engagement/wedding ring

AJA8888, Since it doesn't take up much space keep it for a few more years. The granddaughter may change her mind in a few years. I ran into the same thing with my husband and sister's jewelry. I'm leaving it in my jewelry box for now.

Poll: Sending Old Christmas Cards - tacky or brilliant?

+1 As soon as I saw this post I looked at the cards I sent and the ones that I received and there is no date. I checked the "Hallmark" cards in my desk and none have a date. Let's see a pic of all these cards with dates.

    Poll: Have you had Covid?

No, I've never had it. My husband's cancer come back last year so we were being careful and testing a lot. When he passed, I didn't want to be around anyone and then my sister passed Christmas day so still didn't want to be around anyone. I kept testing this past year because I was working...

Poll: Do You Remove Shoes Entering Your House?

Grew up on a farm and we always took off shoes/boots in the mud room before entering the house. I still take off shoes when I enter my house. I do not ask visitors to remove their shoes. If I'm at someones house and they ask (or I know their habit) I'll leave my shoes at the door.

    Fear of Hwy Driving?

Floridajim57, I was talking to my mother and grandmother and they said it's not a "timid vs confident" driver as I posted. They both said they had friends that this happened to, that didn't have this problem when they were younger. They said it was something that developed over time and not due...

I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

I was going by your previous post where you said the test kits weren't free any more. I wanted to make sure that anyone reading this thread knew they can order an initial allotment for free as of September 2023.

I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

LSBcal, The government made test kits free as of September 2023 https://www.covid.gov/tests I received mine in October. Expiration date was July of 2023 but when you check the lot number on CDC it showed it was good until Feb. 2024.

    Fear of Hwy Driving?

Is this new or have you always had this feeling? If you've always had this you may not be a confident driver. Take a driving class. Is it do to a physical problem like eyesight? Can that be fixed? More information would help. I've been to driving schools for work and for racing but I've...
