Differences between PPO, EPO and HMO

Hello, and Happy Holidays We are considering a move out of state in the future ( 1-2 years). One sincere concern is health insurance for the younger of the two of us. I am 55 and purchase my health insurance through the ACA or Obamacare website. As I " shop" other states for healthcare, I see...

Cost and safest way to transport a BMW from Ma to California .

Anyone have any first hand experience " shipping" a car from east to west? Our BMW is almost new, and in mint condition. Anyone have an idea on the best way to get the car to the west coast, I have done some research and am thinking " covered " car carrier is the way to go? We also have a Honda...

Trouble with Obamacare plans in Pennsylvania

Thank you everyone! I had not thought about buying the insurance direct from the insurance co, OR a broker. We will not qualify for a subsidy, so this may be the best option, and hopefully will have wider acceptance-

Trouble with Obamacare plans in Pennsylvania

Great imput - thanks Rodi. Yes, if we go the PA route, it will be PA for sure, not NJ. Besides the delta in heathcare costs, property taxes and the savings on state tax relating to 401k distributions make PA the more desirable choice. Thanks again for the heads up.

Trouble with Obamacare plans in Pennsylvania

yes, that is correct Exflyboy5. Health insurance access to good medical doctors and hospitals is our number 1 concern in a relo.

Trouble with Obamacare plans in Pennsylvania

Yes, however without " knowing" any doctors or physician groups it is hard to know who are the more desirable ones. We are researching physicians now, but it is somewhat a crap shoot.

Trouble with Obamacare plans in Pennsylvania

Yes! We are considering two states, PA and CA. The feedback was so helpful on CA we were hoping to find similar feedback on PA. PA as you likely know, is on the " heathcare.gov" federal exchange, vs a state exchange. Healthcare is such a huge cost, we are trying to get some " first hand"...

Doctors in Southern California not accepting " Covered California" plans, even PPO's

Thank you to everyone for your thoughtful replies. At the very least, it sounds like it is far less certain in California that most any doctor or hospital will accept Covered Ca plans, although there certainly seems to be a wide variety that do. I guess the real test and challenge is that...

Doctors in Southern California not accepting " Covered California" plans, even PPO's

Thank you both so much for your thoughtful, personal replies. Litgal, I am so sorry for your loss. When I hear stories like these, they serve to validate some of the reservations I have about moving to Ca. I recently investigated insurances ( auto, homeowners, umbrella etc. In speaking with the...

Worried about ACA Obamacare repeal or collapse in 2017

Hi everyone- We currently live in Massachusetts, where Obama care " type" insurance has been available for 10 years now. We early retired 3 years ago ( we are now 54 and 63), and purchase our insurance through the " Health Connector" ( the MA exchange). We have a plan with a $1750 ded each and a...

Newly retired- Do we have enough/ suggestions??

Thank you, Eastwest Gal, and DFW M5 With all of the positive feedback and suggestions , I am feeling more confident! I think the only " uncontrollable " I can think of, is that we do not have long term care insurance. Just never have been a fan of it, given the very high costs vs the...

WOW, I can not thank you all enough! Great forum. I hope to be able to add value to others questions as well as I get familiar with the site, and further settle into retirement! Newly retired- Do we have enough/ suggestions??

REWahoo, I have. The tab/ section I have most trouble with is " your portfolio" When I use consistent market growth of 3%, fixed income returns of 3% and inflation 3%, I get a 95% success rate at 110K spending. If I use the monte carlo scenario, Using a random mean return of 4%, 10%...
