    Cancer screening test by Galleri?

Yeah, that jumped out at me as well. Seems to be much more accurate for latter stage cancers. Also, certain cancers are much more detectable than others.

    Cancer screening test by Galleri?

Anyone have any experience with Galleri ? Looks like a pre screening test for dozens of cancers in a single blood test. https://www.galleri.com/

    2024 Investment Performance Thread

Congrats on the monster return with LLY. Whats more impressive is that you held it all this time. I just do ETFs because I'm sure i would sell winners too early and the anguish of deciding what to do would really mess with my serenity which is what I cherish these days.

    Vanguard, Fidelity or Schwab?

Exit 2024 To me a HUGE advantage of Schwab over Vanguard is the ability of my beneficiaries to walk into an office and sit face to face with someone who can hold their hand through the process.

7 years FIRE'd and doing way better than expected. Why does that worry me?

Similar to you, I retired almost 7 1/2 years ago. I'm almost all stock and NW is up now almost 70% so I'm starting to spend more ---dental stuff, helping family, charity, etc and I'm feeling pretty good about it. I'm sure a nasty bear market will give me pause, but yeah I get the mental struggle...

Anyone else NOT watch the news?

on radio I'll listen to 1010 WINS to get overview TV I like PBS on Friday nights they do a ten minute recap of the news of the week with David Brooks and Jonathan Capehart. I like them both. Like others have said I find the news/social media very toxic I do watch CNBC while I eat lunch...

    Dental question-implants or bridge?

I have a bridge on the upper left and I've been pleased with it. The reality is I don't really have a choice as it turns out, which frankly is a bit of relief. I don't have to agonize over what the "right thing to do" is.

    Dental question-implants or bridge?

Update: I talked to my dentist this morning as I had a few questions He said due to my sinuses being “ very low” he is not suggesting implants and would opt for a bridge Not sure I’m relaying this information correctly but that was gist of his assessment.

shameless ask for praise for walking

It's such a preposterous comment it doesn't even dignify a response. Walking is fantastic on many levels. 11 miles? well done!

    Dental question-implants or bridge?

Thank you for this and all the other comments. I see my dentist in 10 days for a follow up on the extraction to make sure healing is going as expected. Will decide next step from there. The teeth behind and in front are virgin teeth so no issue there. I'm a non smoker and my gums are good. no...

    Rethinking my yearly Roth conversions

This conversation probably deserves it's own thread, but as of now I'm only withdrawing from my taxable account so right off the bat putting a tax inefficient asset ( bonds) into that account isnt wise IMO. Secondly , in my studying all this bonds are good for mitigating volatility, but I'm fine...

    Rethinking my yearly Roth conversions

Ummm....In my view I've done quite well with my approach. I retired at 50 over 7 years ago. The average withdraw rate has been 3.3% and including withdrawals my portfolio is up over 70%. I've paid zero in commissions and fees over that time frame. If that constitutes "over saving " or...

    Rethinking my yearly Roth conversions

Stocks have never gone down 50% and stayed down for a decade. Could that happen? Sure , but it never has. I believe the future will mirror the past and even if stocks do half of their historical average going forward I’m fine. But I actually think we are in for a better future than we’ve...
