Just discovered a GREAT option for rental car insurance

Yup, you have to be careful. And with those additional charges - not hard at all to rack up 20K plus. Some rental companies will go so far as to demanding retail value for a total. In these days that could be $50k plus. Thank you for the addition to this thread.

Just discovered a GREAT option for rental car insurance

Bilt does not cover diminished value. I have seen social media posts with diminished value claims running as high as $16,000. All rental companies seem to assess DV. I saw one claim of $680 in damage hitting a deer - with diminished value of $600. Plus other fees. Total claim was 3X the...

Just discovered a GREAT option for rental car insurance

Check your fine print on the Chase United Card - it was one I reviewed - no coverage for diminished value. I have seen reports in social media of diminished value claims ranging from $600 to $16,000. Sorry. I can't find a card that covers diminished value.

Just discovered a GREAT option for rental car insurance

This Costo Visa specifically excludes diminished value. You're not fully covered. Note also the language says "cost of repairs". There are other fees and assessments involved. I just did a big 'investigation' on this topic. I discovered that if you are involved in a rental car accident -...

    New Car Dealer REQUIRES Financing

A similar thing happened to my daughter at a Toyota dealer. The dealer gets a lift on originating the financing. Yes, you can pay it off in 3 or 6 months. But, we found a little misleading on the advertised price as nothing was stated about financing. And similar to your experience they wanted...

Question about Adjusting for Inflation with 4% Rule

Wellington is more or less a 60/40. I used the annual total returns on it as the basis for the analysis. Also - the 3 - 3 1/2% withdrawal rate seems to be in synch with the Fidelity retirement simulator in a bad market to age 100.

Question about Adjusting for Inflation with 4% Rule

The 4% rule says if you have $1m. Your first-year draw is 40k. Then you adjust the 40k for inflation. Not the percent. The amount. I guess the rule figures as you out earn the 40K plus inflation the resulting % draw goes down. WHAT IF, you're greeted with sour markets at the get-go? As one...

Do I-Bonds belong in a portfolio?

IBonds -- I'm Sold As others have mentioned, iBonds are part of my secure, safe, emergency, cash like 'portfolio'. With current yields above 9%, inflation probably pesky for a few years - I figured - why not? They offer a much higher return than what my credit union pays. Even with a 3...

    To All You Winos

Wine Suggestions Go for Sterling or Beaulieu Vineyards. They have some 'starter' wines in the $10 range -- however if you go a little more up the line - around 20.. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. These both would rate well against wines for a multiple of the cost.

    Acid Reflux and Baking Soda

I have similar symptoms -- hernia, reflux, acid, cough etc -- and apple cider vinegar has worked for me. I found mixing with cider and a quick "chug a lug" worked for me... Supposedly, and not a lot of research on this.... the introduction of more acid via the vinegar triggers our stomach to...
