Banking & Investments - One Stop Shop

Pardon my ignorance on the matter, but though single, I too have my assets spread out because I caught some good interests at the time on CDs, Savings, MMs etc. plus an IRA (at over 4%!) and 4 simple annuities. But how can one consolidate something like this? Will appreciate a lot explaning so...

Best Credit Card for Large Purchases with 0% interest for xx Months

If I understood you correctly, Citibank gives $300 bonus if you deposit $15,000 and leave it there for 90 days. No other requirements. $700 bonus with $50,000 deposit and on to the sky lol! They also offer credit cards. To get good offers I go to: depositaccounts.com; bankbonus.com...

Welcome to the wonderful world of Medicare - long rant

Medicare Advantage offers more than the Original Medicare. Just choose one with a reasonable premium (or no premium if you're reasonably healthy). :)

Who will handle your finances when you can't?

It is highly selfish of that banker! DEMAND TO CANCEL IT!!! I'd shout at him/her a the top of my lungs to cancel and return the entire amount invested! good luck!

Who will handle your finances when you can't?

If you are absolutely sure of your legacy to your major charities, I would contact them with my fears. I'd tell them approximately how much you'll leave for them so they'll be alerted in case of fowl play..... which nowadays wouldn't be surprising at all.

Who will handle your finances when you can't?

...and to me too - I don't even have a spouse for him to take over. What i did is hire a lawyer who did all the necessary final documents. However, even though I have super simple investments of just CDs, MMs, etc. into a Revocable Living Trust, I made her put a clause that immediately after...

    Christmas Newsletters--Bah! Humbug!

I think it's so fine of people to take the time from their busy schedules (anyone who is useful in life has a busy schedule) to write a card or letter on Christmas time! I treasure them and I still feel the pain of having lost some of my precious friends... :)

What should I do with my collection of audio CDs?

Hi Ready, I would donate them to Senior Citizens Communities in your area to give them something better and different from the usual bingo and other such childish things. :)

Won the game, considering an annuity

Have you thought of "Charity Gift Annuities"? Nothing more secure than these annuities and with generous interest percentages according to your ages...while helping your favorite charities. Google them to see the details. Good luck. :)

    Do you play the piano?

I've been so moved by all your interesting piano playing stories! And VERY especially the classical piano playing. I enjoyed you all so much, THANK YOU!!! I always adored the sound of this instrument but never could learn it - too poor even to buy a radio! But I was born singing whatever I...

Best CD, MM Rates & Bank Special Deals Thread 2020 - Please post updates here

Sunset, you can get a Wings.com 5 yr. CD for 1.31% now. When I started the membership it was 1.41% but went down in the middle of my process. I may get the 1.31% because the-next-to-nothing interest may continue for a few more years...according to those who know. :) However, I'm still...

Ridiculous CD rates - where now

Hi, do you mean you are allowed to add money to a CD already in place? That's wonderful! What did you have to do in order to add the money? I'd love to do it with some CDs I have now.....

Ridiculous CD rates - where now

Would you kindly explain to me what this "pool" is about? Though I used to have a few CD type annuities I never heard this word. Does it mean that some states may not cover some insurance companies in case of bankruptcy or something? Anticipating my thanks.

Ridiculous CD rates - where now

The CD-type annuities are very simple, just the same as a CD. The only thing one has to worry about is the reliability of the insurance issuing it. I didn't have a chance yet to explore them at this time, but hopefully I will soon and if I'm lucky to find the right insurance I'll probably get one.

Ridiculous CD rates - where now

Many years ago I had a few CD type annuities at great interest. I'm ready, like you, for more but I'm afraid that my money availability now is not enough for these?: around $29K? Anyway another reason I didn't do it yet is I lost my nerve and can't decide which insurance rate to get. Have you...

Ridiculous CD rates - where now

i think this is what's known as CD type annuities and they are good depending on the insurance that sells them. So what's important is the reliability of the insurance co. so it takes some time to find a good one. I'm going to see if I can find a good one for no more than 5 years. :)

Best CD, MM Rates & Bank Special Deals Thread 2020 - Please post updates here

There are CDs for around 1.30% to 1.76% for 5 yr. There's a probability that extremely low interest will prevail for a few more years. This from a very good and reliable site: depositaccoounts.com. I suggest you browse it by Nov. 2020 CDs and other accounts like MMs, checking, etc. They do...

Tough dinner conversation with adult live-in daughter

...and may I add that if you take the decision of reminding her to follow your house rules, whether or not she contracts the covid at some point in her life, she's going to regret enormously not to have listened to you. :)

Tough dinner conversation with adult live-in daughter

EXCELLENTLY SAID! I think she sounds rather selfish and as irresponsible as a child. Your advice is great, I hope the OP follows it. That's what I'd do if in the similar situation. :)
