    Quicken File Management when Snowbirding

I have my Quicken file on box.com (with local periodic backups) so it is accessible from any device on which I have installed Quicken and always current. Works well for me.

    Killers of The Flower Moon

I watched the movie and thought the performances were great but the story dragged. Too long at 3 hr and 20 minutes. This year's Oscar nominees seem to be following the same pattern: of the BP nominees I have seen KFM, Oppenheimer, American Fiction, Maestro, Barbie, Anatomy of a Fall. and...

What did you do today? - 2023/2024 version

Spent a beautiful sunny day in SoCal refereeing AYSO All Stars (14yo). Great exercise, fun to be with kids and families and I love soccer. Tomorrow DW and I are spending the day with DD/DS and their SOs -- local museum outing and brunch.

    2024 Travel Plans

In June we are taking a Viking River cruise from Avignon to Lyon and then the train to Paris for a few days. This is a trip we were going to take in 2020 but got sidelined due to COVID. Upgraded Veranda Suite and extra excursions. Looking forward to it.

Do you Autopay your Monthly Bills?

Have used autopay for years. Would recommend a CC or Paypal rather than deduction from you checking account for reasons stated above and for ease of handling disputes.

Iceland Tours was the BEST! They did everything (except air flight which were on miles). All the arrangements and excursions went off with out a hitch. Would definitely recommend them to anyone thinking about going there.

    Getting my first Apple watch

I did get an Apple watch but realized that it really just mirrors my iPhone and I have that with me almost all the time. I traded it in for a FitBit Sense which looks just like an Apple Watch and accomplishes what I want the watch for: steps, heart rate, sleep tracking, alarm/timer, iPhone...

Frugal and retired - anyone alse?

It may not be alot but I find shopping online for products/trips/accommodations overseas (like a tour or a hotel) the price is quoted in USD and local currency. College Costs, why?

It may change. Trained electricians, plumbers, operating engineers, and carpenters particularly in commercial real estate construction can make very good livings (especially trough the union apprenticeship programs) and often do it faster than the kid coming out of 4 year college with a...

    College Costs, why?

Interesting. I attended the University of California Berkeley (Go Bears!) 1972-1976. My tuition was $625/quarter or $1875/year (this is tuition only -- not including other fees and dorms). Inflation adjusted this is $13,588 in 2023. The equivalent annual in-state tuition today at Cal is...

    Kids and House Down Payment
