    Amateur Radio

My first HF Rig bought 11/1985 was an ICOM IC-735. It was my only HF rig up till about 5 years ago when it started to act up so I bought an IC-7200.

    Extended Warranty ??

Another thing I consider. The issuers of these warranties don't sit there trying to think of a way to lose money, they think of ways to make a good profit. That means they are going to take in a lot more money than they pay out.

    Amateur Radio

Technician 1983-84. General a few years later. Extra class a few year ago. I have had years of not being active but currently I use 2 meters while driving and have some good vertical antennas at the house for HF.

Do You Hide Your Financial Success From Your Kids?

Stay where you are. I can't think of anything good from moving into a high end neighborhood. Sometimes those kids are the worst. They have too much time and money to blow. They will have nice drugs and booze to share with your kids. Think of the cars they will be given at 16 for your kids to see...

Is "early retirement" insensitive right now?

Someone else in need can have your job.

    Outdoor Antenna for TV

I just posted what I bought 4 years ago before I saw this, but that was before wanting to retire early. Homemade is like this one is probably more inline with saving money.

    Are You A Horn Honker?

I would honk, but it would be at the guy in front of you. I often wonder if people would be like "why you honking at me". I would say obviously I am not honking at you. I leave early for everything, I even leave early from work to head home. However, I don't want to wait at a light for no...

    Paying off Mortgage

Yes, which is why I think I would avoid all that and just send them in something shy of the balance, then at some point the last payment will be less than normal and the payoff.

    Paying off Mortgage

Sometimes I think that if I came across a large some of money (currently paying a monthly large principle payment) I would just pay a few very large payments to get it down so the system would just end as normal, showing me a small last payment. They probably suggest the wire transfer because...

    Are You A Horn Honker?

What about those car alarms that use the horn when you activate or deactivate? I can't stand them.

    Are You A Horn Honker?

I should say toot, not honk.

    Are You A Horn Honker?

Yep, I honk a few times a week. If the light turns green and you don't start moving you get a short honk.

    90 plus lifestyle & spending

I guess it is a matter of perspective. Not sure how good of a quality of life that is if I can't clean myself or cook, etc. Food could always be delivered. I would still say let me do my best at home. If I am 90 and I am struggling with these things, let it be. I would rather keep trying at...

    90 plus lifestyle & spending

I let it be known to my kids that I don't want any of that care. When I am older if I fall down in the back yard and hit my head on rock, let it be. Don't blow money getting my diaper changed for years. I am not sure if this will be an option, as we go on the state seems to show who is in charge.

    Greetings

We have been doing that for a while. So we did get a late start due to life stuff, errors etc. We have been debt free except for the house for years. We just bought a home again 4 years ago. We have been concentrating on paying that off more so than investments. We had home issues in the past...
