Post Harvest Moon Ok finally got it, sort of. Had overexposed moon and had to do a lot in PP to make it viewable. I was 1.3 miles from the lighthous.

Thanks folks. Though not a super moon this Sunday, I know it’ll be a clear evening so I’m going to try and do a sequence of moon positions as it passes across the lighthouse. Thankfully it’s only 3 miles from the house…

Thank you. Looking at it some more I’m pleased. I should have shot this at f/8 and a bit longer exposure for better depth of field. Was a 20sec exposure but on a rock solid Gitzo tripod.

@Ronstar the Nikon 200-500 is quite sharp, I found it sharper than the Tammy which I owned before. With f-mount lenses dropping like flies I’m waiting for a decently priced 600mm f/4. Right now they’re about $4K for a good used one…. I’ll wait..;’

Moving to Mirrorless.. Sold my D800 and picked up a Nikon z7 refurbished. Mainly for landscape, art, macro photography. I really like the lighter form factor, I loved the D800 and was going to get the 850…. I haven’t had much time to shoot but trying to make time to do so, it’s hard this...

What a $5 Million Retirement Looks Like

@NW-Bound Yah, we are relatively frugal. There’s truth in the saying wealth is more than money. Being happy and productive, and giving back should be the metric of wealth.

What a $5 Million Retirement Looks Like

I found the comments here much more interesting than the article itself. At 62 and 64 my DW and me are about 12-18 months til retirement. As of yesterday our total portfolio (tax/taxable) isn’t at $5, but $3.5. For us we’re comfortable given our priorities, interests, and expected retirement...

    Tax Harvest Question

I’ve googled this but can’t seem to find an answer to this… Earlier this year I accidentally sold some RSU’s from the wrong lots in the Fidelity website…rather than selling shares from just vested stock, I sold older lots resulting in a $25K capital gain..mix of ST and LT gain.. A completely...

Buy (new to me) boat or join a boat club

I’m lucky in that my total boat spend is only $3K/year all-in. Have a 22 foot Cape Dory sailboat. I’m on Long Island Sound in CT. That includes winter storage at yacht club, yacht club fees (beer and butt club), summer at town marina (after 10 year wait list), commissioning, and incidentals...

Average gas price $6.20/gal by end of Summer

I purchased a new hybrid Honda Accord back in late 2019 as I was facing a horrendous 150 mile round trip commute, 4-5 hours commute a day… I did it for 2 months, averaging 58mpg.. I was happy… then Covid hit and I got remote status and have had it ever since. Thank God. I only have 15K on the...

    2022 ACA Exchange Experiences

This has been an informative thread as I’m 2-3 years from retirement and will have another 3 til Medicare eligibility. I’ve run some scenarios based upon withdrawal sources looking a few years out, but….in 2023 doesn’t the cliff come back..? Or do you expect congress to extend it out?
