I'd like to learn how to make better food

Also check craigslist. I bought a brand new Large egg for exactly 50% off. The seller won it in a contest and never took it off the shipping pallet.

    IRA transfer timing for divorce

Been there, done that. Glad it went smoothly for you. I was sort of amazed as well how much of it is simply on the honor system. Good luck with the next chapter of your life, my divorce was anything but amicable and even after that it gets better soon.

What's a fair price for a Financial Plan?

This has been my experience too. Most (not all) of the people you meet doing fee only plans are people I wouldn't want doing my plan. Its just too hard to make a living doing it, and the clients still aren't used to being billed for it. There are some exceptions, especially on the high end...

A felony count for killing a hamster? Wow, I hope they never find out what happens to rodents I find in my house. I might get the death penalty.

I take it you don't converse with many c level executives? Getting more than 2 word replies is pretty rare. Go try and e-mail the CEO of another Fortune 100 company and see how far you get.

He does return these from time to time. The important part of the story you're conveniently leaving out is that this was a college student who basically wanted Steve Jobs to do her assignment for her. After the third time has asked her to stop bothering him. http://gawker.com/#!5641211

    Vanguard ETFs and fee-based advisors.....

You're making two big assumptions 1. The all people will create a balanced asset allocation and stick with it 2. The only value of an advisor is choosing investments Both in my experience are false

    Do you have a housekeeper/cleaner?

We have ours come every third week. When we got married my wife informed me she doesn't do bathrooms, and that it is non-negotiable. It didn't take me long to figure out that I'm not spending my weekends doing them either. Two women come for about an hour and a half. Costs us $75.00

    Over-Aged Financial Planners?

Well, the first question that I would ask is what is the purpose of the relationship? If the only reason you're hiring an advisor is because you think he's going to pick only the best performing funds, buy them at exactly the right time, and beat the market.... well, then I think you've hired...

    Over-Aged Financial Planners?

I can tell you this 1. Advisors do use Vanguard funds. Our office has well over $10M in vanguard funds alone. Much more in other index funds. 2. You bet Vanguard has a salesforce. They hit the advisor market hard. We get calls, visits, invitations to conferences, mouse pads, calendars, and...

It's much harder to sell your book than it sounds. Despite what most people here think, this business is very personal, and requires a lot of dedication. When you work with people for years, watch their families grow, mourn with them when family members die, you take a very personal stake in...

    401(k) Advice—for a Hefty Fee

Arnie - I suggest you spend a couple years reviewing a couple thousand self directed 401(k) and Cash Balance pension accounts. Only then can you really obtain perspective on the horrible investment decisions that the majority of people make in choosing their asset allocation.* 65bps for people...
