At that moment he did not feel like doing it. He had already gotten the bills out to verify those so it depends upon when I ask, how much he's had on his plate that day.

Do any of you cut it really close in easy retirement?

Yes I just went back to my former job I had for a short time. My close friend works here managing the home for a lady w/dementia. They loose a lot of staff. Her behavior issues are worse than her dementia. To bed around 9-9:30pm, up around 8am. Lots of time off downstairs where we have a living...

Sorry to hear you are spending so much $ on drugs, wow. Hopefully that will change next year. We also have the $400 a mo. extra from the Indemnity Plan and the medications are sold at cost so that should help I am at work right now. So happy they provided internet, it's gone well so far and...

Thanks for this. Sounds like you did a great job of planning out your life yet unexpected events occurred. Glad you like your job, that really helps in this stage of the game. He kept his license active, as we worked a little over the summers together throughout the years. It's really the...

Do any of you cut it really close in easy retirement?

Sounds like you had unexpected things happen to you if you are consulting right now realizing you need to, so glad you enjoy it in this late stage of the game. I agree, our income is too low to retire. No one here liked the idea of getting a job later in life if need be, even at 70 yrs old, and...

Do any of you cut it really close in easy retirement?

I am glad you planned so well and the result is as such. Nice you give generously too. Just for the record, I don't pinch pennies. We just have a routine, nothing ever goes wrong. Maybe because we live out in the sticks so we don't have a ton of culture or ways to spend extra $ around us. The...

Do any of you cut it really close in easy retirement?

Okay, thank you. He's considering working this summer, we'll be working together if that happens. it does seem to be cutting it too close. Supposedly that's the reason we bought all the new items, so nothing needs replacing until age 70 when the IRA should grow enough we have the cushion needed.

Do any of you cut it really close in easy retirement?

Yes the numbers were wrong. It was $2265 per month forever then there was a Cola increase so it's closer to $2300. With the Pan Am indenmnity Increase of $15 each, it sorta ate most of it up. I've asked him to show me but he's not wanting to do it. The budget is surely higher than I listed as we...

Property Tax is not bad here in California. I think I mentioned we bought this as a fixer upper which is key. The purchase amount is what the tax is based on, no one comes back years later to see if you did any re-modeling. Prop Tax here is capped and Prop 13 is great because you can move your...

No we don't grow fruit trees but we have in the past many years ago. We don't eat that much fruit. That's a great idea though

Yes it's imperative we get an emergency fund. We attend church and $200 is much lower, for sure, than others donate. The church is small too so $ is surely needed to keep it open.

Most of the people who go to that clinic are not enrolled in a Tribe. I believe that's the norm they informed me. They suggested I sign up though.. I was accepted due to my Grandma being on the Dawes list.

Buying in a rural county as an older family

Is there home delivery for mail? If you have to go to the post office every day, that wouldn't be desirable to me. Do you have garbage delivery? Do you have to drive to the dump? This is a pain for us due to the fact we have bears yet no bear boxes. Trash piles up in our house and sometimes in...

Do any of you cut it really close in easy retirement?

Sorry to hear about your friend. That's interesting about the variation in drug prices depending upon the circumstance. New to me. The upside is we can sign up at any time for a drug plan without penalty so only the first month would be out of pocket. And to your second comment, it's new risk...

Car insurance is included under Transportation. We do not get a federal subsidy for Internet or phone but I'll look into it. Doubtful we'd do that but thank you so much for that suggestion

Hello, thanks for the suggestion. This is long but very encouraging. I understand if you do not want to read this all, it's just for everyone or anyone interested. I called our Native American Clinic and got the specialist who handles all insurance matters. Received excellent guidance. At age...

Do any of you cut it really close in easy retirement?

Thank you. Yes it's a bare bones budget. Hubby just told me we have 8-10k cash emergency fund and about 8k in an HSA which we've never really used. The Company matched it. We forgot about that $ We turn 65 in a few years. We've felt no stress about money. I guess we've never needed more than...

Do any of you cut it really close in easy retirement?

Good thinking. We already get the privilege of going to the Native American clinic which is much cheaper for the taxpayer than Medicaid or those ACA plans that charge hundreds per month. Since we are able bodied, no doubt hubby wouldn't go for Food Stamps anyhow. All we need to do is earn about...

Do any of you cut it really close in easy retirement?

King Over Queens, I think you are in the majority. To Athena53, for some reason, a mod has to approve my reply to you. I addressed each point except this: Our Indemnity Plans covers up to $400 a month of drug coverage and the Indian Clinic gets their medication at cost which should be about...
