    The Inger newsletter

Here is link to the newsletter. The long and short of it is we are not out of the woods yet. No real news there. Seems to like to pat himself on the back a lot for being right. Not sure if he was right in the past or just wants to make everyone think he was. Lyle Decision Point ®: Top...

How far will you ride the market down ?

Enough is Enough. I got out today. I just can not see anything in the next few months to turn this around. I may be wrong. If I am I will be back in, but this time feels different. Time will tell. Lyle

"CC debt" add on: best card for rewards?

Best two cash back cards I have found are Chase Freedom. It yields about 1.8% cash back and Countrywide 1st USA. Country wide has 1% cash back that they will match if you added it to a Countrywide bank account, making the yield 2%.

FIRE Scenario - How are ya feelin' now!

You may be right about the social security being tied to means testing. I am afraid with medical cost and war cost the government is going to have to find ways to reduce cost which means the individual pays more. The part I don't like is I am beginning to feel like the grasshopper who...

FIRE Scenario - How are ya feelin' now!

I voted 1.5M, which seems right to me. Question though. Will all of the baby boomers retiring now have 1.5M to retire on? If not what will the 80%-90% that do not have 1.5M on do?

"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles -Thumbs Up or Down?

I enjoyed the first two shows, but something about them seemed to move a little slow. Will continue to watch with the idea the shows will keep getting better. I like the story line. I wonder how many of these were finished before the writers strike.

How much is enough to retire early on?

Dallasguy The cost of living in Dallas area is reasonable and not likely to sky rocket up so I think you are fine(we live there also). I have calculated our expenses at closer to 40K here, but there are two of us. I say go for it. You will likely find you have plenty. Lyle

"Your First Million is the Toughest" How long did it take you?

In 1984 I move to a new company and remember having 10K in a retirement account. I hit 1M net worth in 2006 and will hit 1M in liquid assets in 2007. It took a while but considering during this time raised a family, put two kids though college, learned about the stock market (2000-2003), it...

    Need Help With Apartment Application

Depending on the state you are in Apartments usually only want enough security deposit to cover the rent for the time it may take to evict someone. Maybe 1-2 months. Smaller housing to become more popular?

Dallas Texas suburbs are like one of the earlier poster said. Small = neighbors you may not want to live next too. Its seems builders are only building McMansions even for starter homes. There are nicer smaller homes close to downtown but because of location the price is higher. Due to all this...

    What is a "millionaire"

I believe a millionaire is anyone with $1 million dollars or more. A million is still a lot of money. Depending on whether you are a pre retired or a post retired millionaire I think everyday you could be thankful you have that much, but maybe also wonder if it is enough to last. Lyle
