Anyone pay their Aetna health insurance bill in CVS

So after these responses I went ahead and charged my February invoice and confirmed it codes as CVS pharmacy and I got the 3%. I had been using Fidelity Visa so the extra 1% will be worth about $100 annually. Regarding missing a payment, we pass CVS almost daily and I like to use their blood...

Anyone pay their Aetna health insurance bill in CVS

I can do this and am wondering if it would count as a drugstore charge and get me 3% back using Chase Freedom. Does anyone do this and know whether it gets coded through CVS as a drugstore charge or as Aetna and an insurance payment?

Would it be better to take Social Security at 62?

Wow that made all the difference. By taking today's payout at 67 and 70 and upping it by the 3% the 3 scenarios are flat by age 90 even with the 9% compounded growth. Changing it to 7% and they are flat by 85. So that simple fix has me rethinking the whole thing. May make sense to wait until...

Would it be better to take Social Security at 62?

THANK YOU. I made the updates so everyone can see my assumptions and what I did. Granted there is risk in the portfolio return, but even dropping from 9% to a much lower rate still brings a higher accumulation at 62. There are other considerations as well, but I still find this intriguing and...

Would it be better to take Social Security at 62?

I am better with numbers than technology. Anyone know an easy way to do this? Cant follow the online solutions.

Would it be better to take Social Security at 62?

Looking at taxability is a good point. It deflates all 3 scenarios, but on a relative basis. Taking it at 62 still beats 67 by half million and 70 by almost one million. Absolutely returns will vary over time. Would need to drop the compound return to 3% for it to be a wash. But...

Would it be better to take Social Security at 62?

Just from a financial standpoint, would taking social security at 62 and investing it and not touching it yield around $1 million in additional lifetime assets compared to 67 or 70? This seems to good to be true. Assumptions are that it is not needed and could be squirreled away indefinitely...

    Big Fidelity bonus

I did speak to Vanguard before I made the transfer, not expecting anything as I never heard of them offering a bonus to get new money let alone retain money. They were nice but said they did not offer bonuses.

    Big Fidelity bonus

My 401k was already at Fidelity and I transferred it to an IRA after I retired. They would not give me a bonus for that transfer since they already had that money but I do have a dedicated rep. We have spoken a bit and he offered me a bonus to move my funds from Vanguard. The good thing is it...

    Class of 2020

Who cares what day of the week it is Might sound trivial, but for decades, everything was Friday and the Weekend, and Monday and the early part of the week were so hard. It really, truly does not matter now. It is so freeing and liberating. Monday, Friday they are indistinguishable...

Should I avoid a Wealth Management Advisor?

Not even sure why I am at this juncture. After a lifetime of LBYM, prudent money management and sticking with index funds at Vanguard and Fidelity, we have amassed a portfolio far in excess of what I imagined or need. Fast forward to today and after attending some seminars (probably a mistake)...

Multiple ACA policies and a subsidy

How would this affect any subsidy? Would we still get a 1095A for the school plan?

Multiple ACA policies and a subsidy

Yes one will be a silver policy and the other bronze because of anticipated spend. I looked at what the agent wrote me and I misspoke a bit. There would be one marketplace account in my name with 2 separate policies. Sounds like this should not upset the subsidy.

Multiple ACA policies and a subsidy

If it makes sense to have a separate policy for our adult dependent DD18 would this have any bearing on the subsidy? Both would still be in my name, and there would be one family policy for DW and I, and an individual policy for DD. Would the subsidy be the same as if we had a single family...

Thanks for all the specific things I learned about here

So I just applied for the $100 Fidelity deposit bonus for myself and DW I learned about here. That is $200 found money! Got me to thinking about some of the other money saving and making ideas I have learned of here (not even counting all the more broad-based LBYM knowledge): Fidelity 2% Visa...

    NJ ACA carriers

Anyone with any personal experience? We are choosing between AmeriHealth, which seems to have better pricing and Horizon, which we are told has a larger network of providers and more participants. Thanks

I know we are due for a correction, but...

I think seeing net worth visually helps, been graphing the year-end balance for over 25 years. The run up since 2016 has been incredible, about a doubling, and that was after the tremendous growth since 2010. The drop in 2008 really was just a bump in the road. Even if the market halved again...

Those currently working and planning ER aren't going to like this

Middle road After about 6 months retired and after the covid vaccination I needed some structure and more to do and decided it was safe to be in public. I started looking for a part time job with these criteria: within 5 miles of home, no stress, no physical requirements like standing or being...

    Net worth Today

People like to worry, especially many of the folks on this site who are fiscally conservative and planners by nature. As long as you are good, that is what matters. We have a large portfolio, and the latest thing I am going to have to worry about is the tax and medicare implications of...

At What Point Does Gradual Weight Loss Become a Concern?

Pound a week At the start of the pandemic, everything changed, no more eating out, bagels or donuts or celebratory cakes at work, etc. Just home-cooked meals 7 days a week. Took a few weeks before I noticed the weight dropping and it did not stop till fall 2020 and 30 pounds later. Went for...

Chase Sapphire card vs 2% cash back?

60,000 points We applied in January when they were offering 60,000 bonus. Seemed good at the time, but wondering if anyone has ever gone back and asked for a current promotion with success? Cant hurt to try but it would be good to know if anyone has ever done this, adding points to newer...

Weird Question... How often do you count your money/assets?

Wow real outlier here At the end of the calendar year, I update the annual net worth statement, that's it. I do glance at statements as they come in monthly, but some are online and I often dont bother with those. As we move into the year, and there has been a major market move like this...

    Poll: Fat FIRE

I put the lower options for completeness. But am really mostly interested in how many eight figure, or even nine figure, net worths there are here.
