3% bonus on IRA transfer. Worth it?

Robinhood is offering a 3% bonus for transferring an IRA. Transfer a $100,000 IRA and you get $3000. Clawback of part of the bonus for excess withdrawals in the first 5 years. You have to pay $50 for a 1 year Gold level. Is this worth doing? I've been hearing about Robinhood for a long time...

What is the minimum size (percentage) holding that is worthwhile?

Consider a significant but not huge portfolio, say $500,000 to $2 million, with a number of stock & ETf holdings. What is the minimum size (percentage) holding that is worthwhile? For example, is it worthwhile to have or keep a stock that is only 1% of the portfolio? Even if it doubles it is...

"authorized user" on a credit card and holder does not pay it.

What happens if you are an "authorized user" on a credit card and the person who has the card in their name stops making payments? The credit rating agencies know that you are an authorized user, and have noted that on your credit report. Does that have any effect on your credit rating? Are...

    Fidelity Visa summer bonus--dumb.

I just got a letter from Fidelity Visa, "earn additional Bonus Points this summer" For the 2 months Aug & Sept, once you make $7000 purchases, each additional dollar above the $7K will earn 1 extra bonus point. Up to 2000 points. That is, maximum $20 extra bonus. Why bother? What a stupid promo.

Firecalc results for "mixed portfolio" ends in 2005.

If in "Your Portfolio" I select mixed portfolio (since 1927) I only get 49 cycles for a 30 year run or 59 cycles for a 20 year run. Looking at the "investigation" spreadsheet, the last year is 1975 for 30 yr run or 1985 for 20 yr run. 1975+30 = 2005. 1985+20 = 2005. But if I select "Total...

Transfer (partial) IRA to collect $600 bonus?

I got an email from CapitalOne offering a $600 bonus if you transfer $125K into a Capital One® ShareBuilder® account - IRA or regular. So why not? Any reason to not do this? I don't particularly about for CapOne, and I'm happy with my current broker, so I'd leave the account open only long...

Preferred stocks vs. paying off mortgage

BAC cumulative preferreds are yielding 8.5% to 9%. USB cum pref's are yielding around 8.25%. True, these aren't risk free. Not FDIC insured, junior position, dividends can be deferred for 5 years, volume is low, spreads are somewhat high (2%), etc. If you have enough assets such that paying...

    Mortgage-keep or payoff---with dollar amounts

Much of the debating about paying off the mortgage or not does not include any hard numbers. I put together a comparison using some hard numbers using actual figures from a personally-known situation. I assumed a very generous desired retirement income--no reason to retire early if you can't...

    Understanding Guyton withdrawal method

That is, what he calls the Portfolio Management Decision Rule. #1) Following years in which an equity asset class had a positive return that produced a weighting in excess of its target allocation, the excess allocation was "sold" and the proceeds invested in cash to meet future withdrawal...
