    Netflix Symbolism

I'm an evening couch potato, but keep very active during the day. I rarely ever turn the TV on before 8pm.

what office software product do you use?

LibreOffice and Google Docs/Sheet/Slides. Both work great for me. The Google suite of products is great when you need to collaborate with others on a document.

    Electric Vehicles - Models Discussion

FSD v12 is my first try at FSD, with the free 1 month trial. I agree with everything you said. It's absolutely amazing what it can do, it hasn't done anything too wrong or scary even once so far. But it's so conservative at making turns and proceeding at stop signs, I'll take it out of FSD is...

I tried watching Six Feet Under because so many people told me how great it was. I only got through 3 episodes and gave up. I didn't find it funny or the slightest bit interesting and I gave it a thumbs down. I know I'm in a very small minority here.

Tesla makes it very clear that it's still the driver's responsibility to be in control of the car. All of the tech stuff is just there to assist the driver. So it's the driver's speeding ticket.

AI Chat Is Not All Bad

I write press releases for an organization that I work with. I find ChatGPT very useful for that - one thing it's really good at is grammar, and phrasing things in ways I wouldn't think of. So I come up with the basic text of what I want to say, and I'll tell ChatGPT to: - revise this: "my...

    Earthquake in NJ

I'm about 15 miles from the epicenter and definitely felt it! I was surprised that you could also hear it - it sounded like a very long, low rumble of thunder.

The difference is in learning vs memorizing. The neural network is constantly learning. But you don't want it to drive based on what it memorized from the last time it did that turn. Last time, the coast may have been clear. This time, there may be a utility vehicle parked in the middle of...

I enjoyed "The Tourist" on Netflix - an Irish man wakes up after an auto accident in the Australian Outback with no idea who he is, or why so many people want to kill him. There are lots of plot twists and surprises.

has anyone tried brazil nuts to lower cholesterol

This article has a caution about Brazil Nuts, but mentions that almonds might help with cholesterol: https://www.uhhospitals.org/blog/articles/2023/01/can-you-overdose-on-nuts FWIW, I love Brazil nuts

A 3 month bicycle trip across the USA in my early 20's before getting my first real j*b. We carried everything for camping and cooking, no sag-wagon involved.

I'm enjoying "Loki" on Disney+. It's a Marvel Comics spinoff, but it's much more comedy than superhero. Owen Wilson costars as a detective from the Time Variance Authority, chasing Loki across time and universes, and he's really good in the part.

Poll: How Many Scam Cold Calls Do You Get Per Day?

My 'land line' is on Ooma ((VOIP). I used to get a lot of scam calls so I upgraded to their Premier service for call blocking, and now I get only a couple of calls per week. Well worth the small cost of their premier service.

    Why get a stationary computer?

I have a laptop for use when I'm away from home. But I've never felt comfortable using a laptop on my lap - it's just awkward, so I use it on a desk when I can. Even then, I really prefer a separate keyboard, monitor and mouse, so an old fashioned desktop box is my main computer. The laptop...

Buying in a rural county as an older family

Everyone has a different perspective, but what you describe doesn't sound all that rural, and I wouldn't call it impractical. I'm in my 60's, nearest library, firehouse and police are about 5 miles away, nearest hospital is 15 miles, nearest rescue squad is 4 miles, any decent grocery store...

    Clogged Drains: Plumbing Knowledge?

For the past 6 months or so I've been using Bio-Clean and it seems to be helping avoid slow drains / clogged drains. I'm on a septic system, so bleach is definitely a no-no. Besides, it would kill any of the good stuff created by your bacterial strips or my Bio-clean. I've read that even...

    Clogged Drains: Plumbing Knowledge?
